The Contender Still Has Alot of Fake ****

The sound effects for every punch is for the casual fan but they make sounds even when punches dont land, barley land, or are blocked. Every punch is huge.

The thing that really gets me and I hope you guys notice, is that that double up on **** alot and sometimes tripple up on it. Like they will show a guy throw a combo, then show that same combo again from a different angle, and then sometimes show it again from another angle so it looks like the guy just hit him with 9 straight punches but it was really 3.

Even take that last fight with Walter when he winded up for the bolo and hit him with a jab. They showed the **** like 4 times in a row and made it seem like the other guy was a amature that kept getting him with that same ****y move but he really only hit him with it like once or twice. They do this **** alot and the mainstream fan cant tell the difference.

That makes alot of rounds look worse then they are and it makes it look like one guy is getting killed or clearly winning the round when in reality I bet they all arent so obvious

Yeah, but that's why is appeals to the non-boxing fan. It's a Rocky movie. If they showed it from a normal boxing angle and no effects, not many people would be watching it.

I feel ya man. I was mentioning this about a week ago. It is like any reality TV show - 50% real 50% fake or added drama. It is produced by Burnett so they have to add some drama too it. SHowing the actual rounds wouldn't bring any casual fans to watch it. ALl the casual's care about is the home life of the fighters.

I'm not saying my opinion is worth a **** in this area...but I personally don't care for the Contender at all. The guys on the show are all hoping that they finally catch a break. Some are older and you know they won't make it, others have poor records. I just see the television show fighters chosen half for personality and looks- rather than trying to be a legit boxing show by picking good up-and-comers and the like. It's a fake drama mixed in with B-level fighter, fringe contenders, etc. fighting for a prize that's more hopped up than it seems. Look at Sergio Mora- the Latin Snake- the winner of season one. He's nothing special in my eyes. Decent...but...worthy of the hype backing him? No. Jermain Taylor's people were talking about making a fight with him and I partly want to see it to watch the Contender champion get torn apart by a real boxer. I just feel strongly about that show being bull****.

yeah I thought ESPN was talking about just playing the full fights and dealing without the repeated slow mo. That would have been better in my eyes. And Although I do like the show, It is ovious they get the dudes who have family's n **** to make it more dramatic. I feel bad for the single boxers, who are 10X better then these guys but are not getting a shot because they can't bring there kids and wife to there fight or arn't good looking enough. I'd love for some grimey ass loner dude (with a good record) to be cast and kick everyones ass. yah know

That sounds like Walter Wright. He didn't want to have his family there, because he wanted to focus on the fight..

ROFL.....yeah, the only thing I really worry about is that producers can pretty much CHOOSE who they want to advance. I've seen editing on a MMA fight in which a guy landed no punches and got knocked out in 30 seconds but the video editing still made it look like he totally whipped the other guys ass.

The producers can see throughout the season who will likely have more general public appeal and get that guy to finals.

I prefer TUF which gives the entire fights unedited.

BTW DLT, the contender fights reminds me of an old video game called ready to rumble with all those sound effect, I wonder if they took the sound effects from that game?

I look at it liek this. They say this show is to help boxing and gte people to watch it. Then people say they show the "rocky movie effects" to get people to watch it instead of showing real boxing. Then when people watch real boxing it wont be like rocky effects. SO why not just show them real boxing in the first place? Don't make sense to me at all. The Ultimate Fighter show showed teh whole fights and I think that show did A LOT for the UFC.
