Officials should not stop the fight the "check" on fighters during the round.

If the round is on going and they are on wobbly legs, or the cut is caused by a clean punch, offiicials should not stop to "check" on the condition of the fighters while the opponent is teeing of on them to knock them out, they are robbing fighters the chance to KO them clean.

Joe Smith over Hart , Zerafa over Horn round 9, Ortiz over Wilder, giving them a lot of chances to recover without compensating the opponent. If they are going to "check" on the fighters on wobbly legs, let it be count as a knock down. Let them KO the other guy or stop the fight.

I think the solution to that would be to bring in the standing 8 count. It's fine if you want to check on the fighter, but it should be counted as a knock down, since you are essentially stopping the action and letting the fighter recover.

Agreed. It definitely curtails momentum and gives the shaky legged fighters a chance to recoup.

I agree. Even though standing 8 seems more important for the ams they should implement it again at least in the NYSAC since this type of stuff generally only happens in New York. And I guess adjacent New Jersey as well.

Cuts are trickier. You need a medical opinion on whether the fight should be stopped or not.

But, yes, standing 8 is the answer for any other check.

And as for that nonsense of checking a fighter after they have they have been in their corner that just needs to stop. Check them between rounds. You don't get extra time to recover.
