Well, sanctioning bodies make up the ranks on a need-cum-commercial basis.
One day, WBA ranks Christian Hammer at #6 when they thought he would be fighting Kownacki. Then, when it became clear that Kownacki will be fighting Helenius, Hammer got dropped and instead, Helenius got ranked at #6.
And we have posters here arguing who fought better opponents based on their ranks by the sanctioning bodies.Comment

No he wouldn’t , Whyte was offered AJ already and turned it down like multiple guys before Ruiz agreed to it, he was already in line for AJ .
Pulev was owed this already back in 2017 but withdrew because of injury .
Whyte defeating Pulev doesn’t change he declined the fight afterward from receiving less money in Bulgaria for a Pulev fight . It was obvious Whyte didn’t want AJ and was on record stating he wanted a few more fights but felt he could defeat Wilder .Comment
