Look, Leila Ali was fighting women who started fighting at like 25/30 years old and there was no base of female fighters to grab from.

Sheilds, though there is still a weaker pool of women to fight, is beating a much better pool of women.

I can't see how people can criticize the quality of the pool of talent in women's boxing today, but act like Laila Ali and women from her era didn't have an even worst pool of talent to draw from.

You gotta know there are more women fighting today then there were in the '90s and early 2000s, right?

I mean, women's boxing wasn't even in the Olympics back then.

Picking Laila Ali over Claressa Shields would be like picking one of those dudes in the NBA, back when they used to have to use the stick to get the ball out of the hoop over LeBron James or Michael Jordan.

Like, it's a totally different sport now.

Have any of you even watched old school women's boxing?

Or do you just go with who you find more attractive and are less threatened by?

I love Clarissa. But please please please...STOP IT!!!! Ali is 42yrs old and has been retired over a decade. With the exception of a big pay day, fighting her would do nothing for her career but hurt it. If she wins, so what. If she loses to a 42yr old woman who hasn’t laced up a pair of gloves since 2007, it could ruin her career. Clarissa should just continue doing what she’s doing. Ali has the right to her own opinion. Show respect to your elders and just keep it moving.
