Which is the more ideal “cherry pick,” Rosario or Kovalev?

Remember the days when we called cherry-picks like Swift Garcia vs Rod Salka or Ward vs Alexander Brand?

Realize that Canelo Alvarez is sooooo good that even Ward himself saw Canelo beating Kovalev. Particularly because Canelo is a mean body puncher. The whole “old thing” or “past it” was never in context of a Middleweight moving up to fight the Krusher!

So, why didn’t Haymon give Williams a better option? The crowd in attendance looked rather small.

    Rosario as a pick

    Kovalev as a pick

the guy was ko'd by galimore who jrock easily beat. he had a draw with some guy named mark hernandez. i believe i work in the office with him, and then he just got a SD over jorge cota who was ko'd easily by charlo and lubin. thats not salka territory but this guy on paper at least shouldn't have been any trouble. maybe rosario paid usada 150k to give him tue's or something and hes new and improved but i havent heard that yet

Damn near everybody picked Canelo to beat Kovalev because damn near everybody knew Kovalev was washed up and ready to be beaten by any good fighter. You can't fool the pro odds makers. They made Canelo a 15 to 1 favorite over Fielding and a 5 to 1 favorite over both Jacobs and Kovalev. They have Canelo only even money in a third fight with GGG. Canelo is not taking risky fights, he is avoiding them. He won't fight Beterbiev, Bivol or GGG. Those guys won't lie down for him like Kovalev did. They will beat him so he will never fight them. He will fight Saunders because Saunders looked like garbage coming from behind to be a guy boxrec rated 36th in the world.Canelo is a very good fighter but not nearly as good as you and John make him out to be. He is a clever matchmaker and has a good idea who he can beat and who he can't so he fights the best guys he can beat and leaves the ones he can't beat alone saying they are boring or no challenge or some other Bs. You need to stop rating him as a middleweight because he will never fight at that weight again. He is a full sized super middleweight and only moved up 7 pounds for Kovalev and then got out of the light heavyweight division right away. From now on he fights at 168 and will never fight at 160 again because he cannot comfortably make that weight. You already have 3 threads on the board up at the same time about Canelo. Give it a rest and quit clogging up the board with Canelo praising threads.

Kovalev was bigger cherry pick. Coming up to 40, been bashed about a few times and clearly slowing down. Just compare his performance in the ward 1 fight to the canelo fight, he punches at about half the speed and plods around the ring as if hes got weights in his shoes.

you are purposely forgetting the rehydration clause in the kovalev fight lol and the fact that they offered a huge sum of money to sergey that it was impossible to reject for him to accept this terms and also that they fought two months appart from kovalev's previous fight vs yarde where he almost got stopped. those were more important facts than age in that fight. that's not cherry picking, is making sure the other guy has no chance in hell of winning

Has there ever been someone who “moved up two weight divisions” and was still overwhelming favorite by the bookies?
