That's literally by definition revisionist history. Literally.

At the time, which is what matters, Pacquaio had just moved to 135. Oscar was campaigning at 154.

It was a cherry pick. Everyone in boxing said it at the time and it backfired massively. That's just a fact and revising history won't change that.

Pull up any article pre Oscar-Pacquaio and see what was said about it. A cherry pick, so much so Pacquaio was expected to get badly hurt

i didint think pac would win but i definatley remember at the time seeing issues when steve forbes hurt him and oscar fought to his level, but ivan calderon giving him the business in sparring was a troubling sign, but again i didint see him losing. taking the title off david diaz and then oscar next fight? NOBODY saw that coming, period. all you gotta do is search threads here in 08, these dudes are all liars.
one of the most ignorant idiots on this board "manny p" had it right...said oscar would retire in his corner and give up after a severe beating and he was dead on right.

The fight at the time was considered a total joke. Oscar claimed he was going to fight the Cotto-Margarito winner and he instead cherry picked Pacquaio who was campaigning 3 weight class lighter than him at the time and moved up 2 weight classes to fight him.

It was a clear as day attempted cherry pick where all boxing experts predicted Pacquaio to get massacred. Instead, it backfired in the most hilarious of ways.

      That's how.
Viewed as a cherry pick but really wasn't. If everyone knew DLH's plan was to weigh less than Pacquiao on fight night nobody would have picked him to win.
