Let's differentiate fights between cherrypicks gone wrong...

...and legit fights that didn't go in the favoured fighter's favour.

    Lara, for example, cherrypicked Hurd.
The background here was Decubas/Lara originally wanted Harrison, but Tony said the money offered was peanuts, but then lost to Hurd, unfortunately.
Decubas/Lara then started stalking Hurd, but Jarret said they can wait and went with Trout first.
You know how the story ended.

Do you think the Williams vs Rosario in the same category?

Obviously not. Williams was like a 20-1 favorite right? Lara vs Hurd was pretty much a pick em fight.

Hurd was definitely a cherrypick gone wrong for Lara. The Cuban had the WBA belt for 2 years feasting on the likes of Rodriguez, Ishe Smith, Zaveck, Foreman, Gausha, etc. He and Decubas had zero plan of unifying with the Charlo sisters, "They have the same trainer doe."

He could also have unified with Andrade who was loitering around the Showtime premises waiting for offers, but Lara cherrypicked Gausha, instead.

Lara wasn’t even a 2-1 favorite over Hurd. The line closed at almost a pick em. He was -110.

              Last nights fight was 25-1.

This is easy AJ tried getting a handful of fighters to agree before landing Ruiz to save a fight date and fans were crying over the opponent only to claim they knew Ruiz would win and AJ picked an easy fight ? Ha

Wilder sought out intentionally who could be the second biggest win outside AJ and thought Fury wasn’t ready and was tricked by Warren into taking what he actually thought would be a fight in the bag ,but really backfired, that is a cherry pick gone wrong .

If you have a rematch clause then its a cherry pick.

If this is related to threads about underdogs winning fights, then there had be a difference.

                    Showcase fights vs non-showcase fights.
