I wouldn't say it means nothing, but it definitely means far less.

What people need to realize too is that it's not just about being "lineal," it's about the lineage you possess. If the lineage traces back a year and a half, who cares? If we're talking middleweight lineage, and you're the man who beat the man, going back decades to Bernard Hopkins, then that can understandably mean something.

This is why it's so ****** when people argue over whether Fury is the lineal champion.

HE HAS KLITSCHKO'S LINEAGE. Period. Everyone can decide for themselves what that is worth, but you can't take that away from him.

I guarantee you that if Haymon gave Broner a shot at Thurman's title and beat him, no one would credit Broner and write stories/articles to diminish the win because of Thurman's injuries. That's just the truth. Pac is fortunate that didn't happen considering he sided with Haymon. THey let him slide.
Broner is 28 at the prime of his life you should do great at that age. While Pac is a fossil.. and not even his fans thought he’d fight this long given his style, so of course people gonna give credit to a 40 year old guy regardless of thurman’s issues — unless he fought him straight after the injuries.. dude had a tune up and talked his mouth out.

You must not know much why or how things are look at. You’d make a bad marketing planner or whatever that’s called.

If pac was at his prime too of course the narrative changes.

don't matter to me if you ''love'' Pac. industry don't credit him much anymore, and learn who Al Haymon is. Don't be naïve not knowing he disappointed many fans and affiliates because of his new alliance. Pac became part of the Haymon Sports recipe, nothing more

Thurman for years always wanted the Floyd and PAC fight. He was notorious in interviews that he deserved the shot with Pac or Floyd. The WBA Regular since Chaves must have meant something...
Bradley had wins over JMM, Pac, Provo, Rios and Vargas before his 3rd fight with Pac while Thurman was still without the 2 signature wins of his career over Porter and Garcia during these time. You could maybe make a case for Kell Brook, but in the end, Bradley has the strongest case to be rank as the #2 WW over those other guys.

Luckily for Pac, he didn't have to go through May to win anything

... there's no such a thing as "consensus" in ranking boxers...

... instead, there are TBRB and CBZ which deal with the so-called "lineal issues"... and both TBRB and CBZ had Pacquiao as "lineal" back in 2016...

The Transnational Boxing Rankings and Cyberzone who were the ones everyone pointed towards at the time, had him as lineal if I remember correctly. Boxrec too. I think the post fight report on this website called him lineal also.

When the passage of lineage is not clean, it's sometimes hard to keep track off. Rarely is there a consensus in boxing.

Yeah, CBZ just makes **** up as they go along actually.
