Count the years;
2009 - 1
2010 - 2
2011 - 3
2012 - 4
2013 - 5
2014 - 6
2015 - 7
2016 - 8
2017 - 9
2018 - 10
2019 - 11
Now count these years;
2010 - 1
2011 - 2
2012 - 3
2013 - 4
2014 - 5
2015 - 6
2016 - 7
2017 - 8
2018 - 9
2019 - 10
Which one equals to 10? I have put the numbers by the side to make it easier.Last edited by IronDanHamza; 01-11-2020, 01:50 AM.Comment

Not saying I agree, but the whole “new decade doesn’t start until January 2021” comes from the fact that the common era wasn’t counted until year one and there was technically no year 0.
So historians often refer to decades starting with year 1, meaning 1901, 2001 etc.. as the official start of the decade.
Carry on though.Comment

That's how the modern era defines the decade.
Either way, there's 10 years in a decade not 11 regardless of when the decade startsComment
