Comments Thread For: Porter, Mares Debate Outcome Of Targeted Plant-Benavidez

With unbeaten titlists Caleb Plant and David Benavidez lined up to make mandatory title defenses in the first half of 2020, the idea-assuming they emerge victorious-is to produce a head-on collision in the back half of the year. Such a fight continues to create intrigue, along with mixed emotions on whom will prevail. Benavidez (22-0, 19KOs) enjoyed a get-back year in 2019, reclaiming the World Boxing Council (WBC) 168-pound title which he was forced to vacate a year prior after testing positive for ******* during random drug testing as conducted through the WBC's Clean Boxing Program (CBP) which also resulted in a suspension. The incident not only left him beltless but without a fight for more than a year before returning last March.

I'm so sick and tired of this marinating BULLS--T. After their upcoming fights PBC needs to make the fight IMMEDIATELY. Not 2021,22,23-NOW.

Hopefully they learned their lesson from how hurd\charlo was derailed.....but I doubt it.

In the meantime Smith and BJ S can unify the other two titles and then . . . . oh, yeah, Smith doesn't want that fight, does he?

Hard one to pick as they both go through each other's resumes undefeated. But I thought Uzi had some good moments and Benavidez is better than him as in every department. Plant has skills but will have to hurt DB to win rounds, DB throws punches for fun when he doesn't fear the return fire

Two of my favs right now, I'd really enjoy to see this fight. Assuming this is where Canelo settles down SMW could be a solid division for a while

Yup David enjoys the combat more than most fighters. He also works both sides of a fighter constantly turning and attacking.

If I was a promoter/network I would be salivating at what David brings to the table-big two fisted Mexican American who likes to mix it up. He is everything Top Rank wanted out of JC Jr and Gilberto Ramirez and never got.
