Don't mention Tyson around my boxing coach. My coach dislikes him a lot. My coach has known Tyson since he was 13 so basically he knew the whole catskills crew.

I dont think that any boxer could be considered "over rated" if they are being compared to all of sports. Sorry, no sport is as singularly focused as boxing. To step in the ring takes nuts, and anyone who wants to "rate" boxers compared to other atheletes has mental issues. Compare to other boxers, fine, but to other sports...give me a break.

Personally I believe that Tyson wasn't overrated, just worthless like ******* on a bulldog. Seriously.

No offense to you. I just can't respect a guy like your coach who's never laced 'em up and dare to hate an all time great like Tyson.

By a select few I believe they are.
Boxing historians (and a few hardcore fans) overrate Louis.
Tyson fanatics severly overrate him, and I think people who dont know alot about boxing overrate Tyson. By that I mean people who dont watch boxing on a consistant basis and only know popular fighters.
Those types of people overrate Muhammad Ali, too.
One person asked me if he was undefeated the other day.

Does it count if he's been in the game for 32 years and trained a son who won 7 state champs and 5 national champs? Also he trained more national champs as well..If you don't beleive me go watch Oscar De La Hoya's FSN Beyond The Glory Documentary. You can see him and his son wearing matching warm up suits. He's known many of the big time fighters when they were still boxing with headgear.
