Putting Gervonta on PPV is shortsighted, and greedy

The simple fact is, Gervonta is not a PPV attraction in the American market unto himself. I think It's ridiculous to jump to that conclusion based on shows with dirt cheap ticket prices, and ho hum numbers television wise.

They are rushing him to PPV, and this kid has not even fought an elite opponent yet, we know nothing about him, only that he has a problem staying in shape.

If he were to fight Lomo, that's a PPV fight, maybe even Lopez a year from now, but that's it, he is the B side of of a major PPV fight.

The problem with him is his ceiling, at 5 foot 5, with questionable defensive skills, and an "I already made it attitude", he won't be a force beyond 135 pounds, and right now, he isn't even the 3rd best fighter in that division.

This entire mini Tyson persona is smoke and mirrors, and Floyd in his wisdom understands there is a time limit on Davis keeping that zero, so as usual, the money man is cashing in before sh/t hits the fan, this is an extremely greedy move by Mayweather promotions, it's insane Haymon is allowing this, the fans are not paying to see Gervonta as the headline attraction, they will pay to see him fight somebody that could potentially kick his a$$, which is the primary reason Mayweather fights sold like crazy,

If Gervonta actually had people in his corner that cared about him, he would continue putting on house shows, fight credible opposition when you do it, establish a viable track record with the mainstream public, then go to PPV, that process would take 2 years tops.

Instead, the kid is being used, and he is too arrogant to realize it.

Tank going to box Santa Cruz, Abner, or Mikey Garcia when he signs w/ Haymon again. Fight shouldn't be PPV yet it will be interesting to see numbers like if Gervonta could move higher units than Postol-Crawford, Golovkin-Jacobs or would he flop compared to either one

I thought he was already signed through next year with Haymon, Gervonta's best bet is to see out a Mayweather type deal, an extended 5 fight contract with purse everything negotiated.

        There's a simple solution..

Don't watch any of his fights. That'll save all a lot of crying.

PPVs are unstoppable doe. They're the only ways to make real fights happen.
Fanboys want their fighters to get paid astronomically high.
Fans now have an obligation to pay for the greed.
          Thanks for fanboyism.

I have mixed feelings about the situation. Fighting on Showtime gives him a bigger audience and more attention. But whenever a fighter fights on ppv, they get a big marketing push, multiple interviews, and a public push. Plus it forces him to fight a ppv worthy fight.

His best bet would be to fight on Fox where they can give him a PBC fight camp and PBC Countdown in front of millions of viewers. He could do that just for 1 fight if he wants to stay loyal to Showtime.

And by the way, those tickets were not dirt cheap. When I bought my tickets, the cheapest ones available were $200 ($258 after taxes and fees). They later open up additional seats for starting at $50.

Why not? Thanks to the era of people being fans of a person ahead of their accomplishments, you can now make a ppv “star” out of someone who has accomplished relatively nothing.

I think Tank vs LSC will do better on PPV than what most people expect, especially if it's a FOX PPV. They are both big names in the sport and black vs mexican typically sells.

They are also doing it so they can establish clear A side dominance in a future loma fight ( if loma can get past big **** teo), Loma vs Lopez on PPV won't be as successful as Tank vs LSC.

By being on Showtime, his audience is limited. Fighting on PPV would limit his audience further.

Of course, $$ is the variable that counts. That's why DAZN is landing the big fights.
