Comments Thread For: Bellew: Callum Smith Should Face Jacobs or Eubank, If No Canelo

Former WBC cruiserweight world champion Tony Bellew would like to see Callum Smith in a major fight in 2020. Smith (27-0, 19 KOs), the WBA super middleweight champion, had two outings in 2019. He blew away former champion Hassan N'Dam in June, and then came back in November to win a tougher than expected decision over mandatory challenger John Ryder.

How about a Ryder rematch? He won that fight.

I have said this before and I will say this again. Smith needs to stop waiting on Canelo and move up to 175. He's going to mess around and lose to somebody for real next time that he shouldn't he losing to if he tries to continue to make 168. The benavidez fight can happen later on down the road at 175 when the Mexican-American outgrows the division. Canelo isn't going to fight Smith and I really think that the Brit's next big fight should be against Russian Bivol in Anfield.

Ah phoney Bellew, the ultimate biased scouser, not one word of a Ryder rematch after he clearly destroyed the hype job smith.

For me he should stay @ 168Lb for as long as he's comfortable, so it has to be either Ryder II or unification with Benavidez or BJS. Of course if a Canelo fight comes up then he's got to go for it!

If Canelo's smart he'll jump on this bum next. Callum is just Chavez Jr. 2.0

Joe Gallagher still raging that he's not PPV? Lol. If Smith's had any brains they wouldn't be with Joe Gallagher, they can't really punch cause of Joe's style. The fact Smith got out boxed by someone half his size from range shows that. Joe stop conning the public. No one want's to see one of your guys fight Canelo or Ward and lose every round, it's predictable, just so you can get a fat pay cheque. Look what you did with Jonas as well, Marcus Morrison, and Roberto Garcia vs Beefy was a close fight, I had that a close fight against someone on short notice who's way over the hill. Smith couldn't put a dent in the veteran. And don't get me started on that WBO belt, and no offense to Liam Williams but he's Euro Level at best. Why didn't Beefy fight Vargas? Cause he would have lost. It's all looking very desperate for Hearn and all these guys are laughing, I can imagine Robert Garcia is laughing at how much they are getting to fight Vargas who is decent but he's nothing special. Hearn looking very desperate and without a plan really. Also Benn vs Garton is pathetic, what about the guy he lost to for the British title? Conning the public again Edwardo.

I was high on Smith when he stopped Groves, but he definitely lost to Ryder and his career really seems to have stalled. I’d favour Canelo to handily out point him if that fight happens.
