I hereby change my answer to this:

Charlo is on the wrong side of the street. It’s all his fault. He should fight Andrade because that’s who DAZN will offer and Charlo doesn’t have anyone on his resume as good as Andrade.

I like that answer so much better.

lol@thinking golovkin was such a much bigger star than ward...he wasnt at the time..he was just active....his resume was still weak...lemiuex was gonna be the best name on it at that point.....ward was such a small name at the time that hbo paid him to fight barrera and brand and then put him on ppv? i mean.....ward had just come back and hbo wanted ward/kovalev badly....why would they want that fight if wards name wasnt one that rang bells?

stop trying to justify it...its plain and simple and everyone who isnt putting the glasses on it knows it...they wanted no part of a fight with ward and were chasing the canelo payday
Golovkin's attendance and HBO viewership in 2015-2016 showed that he was a bigger star. The Lemieux ppv obviously wasn't a seller. Lemieux had 1 fight on HBO and 1 on FOX, I think it was? General public didn't know who he was for the most part. And I didn't say "much bigger" did I? I said clearly bigger, if we're going off these metrics. Kovalev was already establishing himself as a name at that point and that they still didn't even do more than 10,000 more buys. Kovalev had what, 8 appearances on HBO and 1 or 2 more on other channels? He was their best chance of having a successful PPV with Ward at 175 at that time.

the point is...the gap in stardom between golovkin and ward wasnt that much for golovkin to be making weight demands.....especially when youve pursued fights at 168 and your trainer is out there saying 168 would be your best weight....164 was golovkins way of showing he had no interest in the fight

ward star was big enough that hbo wanted him back on the network and wanted him to fight kovalev.....regardless of how little both fights sold hbo wanted it....because of who ward was/is...

golovkin just didnt fancy the fight as his eyes were on the canelo money...

just like theyre still on it now....hes fighting a mando that wasnt even ordered by the ibf....if he gets canelo again its not likely going to be at 160 so that belt is likely to be meaningless(lets be honest it is anyway because golovkins name stands alone and he doesnt need trinkets anymore).....but the chenko fight put the fear in him that hell lose any chance at that big canelo check

people need to stop acting like golovkin is some champion of fearless warriors...hes just like everyone else...or at least as bad as his fans make out others to be

you know what...thats all fine and well...i dont disagree...charlo is responsible for his career.....but charlo doesnt go out there whining about it and having paulie malignaggi go on a tirade begging for guys to come fight him..in fact charlo even said canelo is the man and he cant blame him

Well apparently they and Ward overestimated how much of a name he was then. Pretty sure the IBF mandated it? I saw a list on someones twitter that had a list of fights that got ordered, or at least I thought I did. I'll agree on the part of he doesn't need the belts anymore, especially the IBF. If he does get Canelo again, I actually want it to be at 168. I haven't liked the way he's looked at 160 since around Wade. It was then I started noticing a little slip, whatever may have caused it. I think he'll look better at 168, where he won't have to cut as much weight. And now with SNAC, I don't think he'll be training as much in high altitude, which many, including Conte, believes has been a detriment. I'm hoping after the Szeremeta fight, he goes after someone ****ing meaningful because he shouldn't be bothering with these pointless mandatories at this point.

bottom line is there wasnt a big enough gap in stardom between ward and golovkin at the time to make the demand....neither guy was canelo or close.....id say golovkin had a slight edge but not enough to be making demands like ward having to cut 4lbs....

By Barry Holbrook: IBF middleweight champion Gennadiy Golovkin (40-1-1, 35 KOs) and his mandatory Kamil Szeremeta (21-0, 5 KOs) have agreed to terms for a fight in February or March, according to Dan Rafael. Although Golovkin’s mandatory with the International Boxing Federation isn’t yet due, he’s decided to take care of it early.

taking it early for a belt he wont even need for a canelo fight...but all to preserve his standing by not taking on a real threat.....i think its obvious

the guy simply doesnt have a convincing win against a top tier MW

Like I said the 164 bit was too much, but with him coming up and risking more, while being a slightly bigger star, I can see why they asked for 164. Not agreeing with it but understanding it. They could've made the fight at a 60-40 split at the highest and then worked their way up in weight. Well to be fair, none of the guys at 160 really have a clear win against any other MW. They were all pretty contentious to some extent. Golovkin was competitive with Derev, Canelo and Jacobs. Jacobs wasn't dominant in his wins against Sulecki or Derev. Derev wasn't dominant in his win against Culcay. Looked good against G but looking back, he actually landed low, behind the head and on the gloves a lot. I had him winning on first watch but when I watched again, his work was bad for quite a few stretches. Canelo, even at 154/155, doesn't have a dominant win against Trout, Lara, Jacobs or Golovkin. Cotto was probably the most comfortable win, despite the 1 card as always being way too wide. Jacobs ****ed up, as usual, by wasting the early rounds. And Andrade at MW only has Sulecki, which he looked much better against than Jacobs. Overall, all of their wins are seen as competitive, with no man really standing head and shoulders above the rest.

-I know you hold it against him for never facing Lara and Ward, but the objective fact is that they were never MWs. Lara has successfully campaigned at LMW, while Ward campaigned at SMW and LHW. If you wanna complain about him never moving up or down and "daring to be great", fair enough.

I agree that GGG should face the likes of Charlo/Andrade, especially Andrade. I think those match-ups would satisfy those who are angry for him not ever facing Lara/Mora.

Don't play that game with the moron always plays. He's full of *****. He talks about how he could have fought Erislandy Lara but Lara could have easily fought GGG if he wanted to as well. Look at his opposition between the Canelo and Jarrett Hurd fights. Its absolutely laughable. He talks about how GGG could have fought Andre Ward but Ward was inactive and in a higher weight class during the time GGG was a mandatory contender for Cotto/Canelo. No one would give up a mandatory chance at Cotto/Canelo to fight Ward and to suggest otherwise is plain f ucking dumb. He talks about how GGG could have fought BJS but ignores the fact that GGG had a contract signed, sealed and delivered to fight BJS if the Canelo rematch fell through. Even BJS was ok with GGG's decision. He knows he would have done the same thing.

The Andrade and Charlo fights can still happen and if GGG stays at 160 they definately should. But these guys have been at 160 since 2017. Since 2017 GGG has fought Danny Jacobs, Canelo 2x and Sergei Derevychenko. In that same time and in that same weight class the best opponents both Charlo and Andrade have fought were Marcej Sulecki and Matryv Korobov. Those guys need to step things up as well.

But of everything that moron said the dumbest has to be his inclusion of Sergio Mora. Sergio Mora is a decent fighter but his name would do f uck all for GGG's resume. Secondly, I already pointed out how Sergio Mora openly admitted he turned down a fight with GGG. He wanted nothing to do with GGG until GGG signed his contract with HBO.
