Saying that Gamboa's claim of having a ruptured Achilles tendon is BS is a bit harsh. The guy obviously suffered some kind of injury in the area of his Achilles tendon, but since he's not a doctor, he could only guess. To me, given his age and his injury, it was a testament to his intestinal fortitude that he lasted until the twelfth round. The fact that Davis, a top, young fighter took so long to stop Gamboa is testament to a kink in his armor.

exactly what I came in here to say. Hopefully people will stop believing all of the bs they read and hear. a torn achilles REQUIRES surgery. It's not an option. Gambo isn't Wolverine to let a ruptured achilles heal on its own.Comment

This is the Pacquiao torn rotator-cuff situation all over again. Gamboa must got that saltwater and Jesus hook-up too
Seriously though I knew he was exaggerating from day one. You don't ****ing box nine rounds with that injury.Comment

I was thinking the same thing. Why the hell would there not be a surgery if he tore his achilles? Doesn't seem like the type of thing that you can just rest for a month and then be all good with.Comment

Semantics.
Saying he had a ruptured achilles is not inaccurate, he never specified a complete rupture and many refer to a partial tear as a rupture.
I think whatever word you want to use is irrelevant in this case. He was injured and it affected his ability to move and plant to throw.Comment

A rupture doesnt just heal itself. A significant tear doesnt heal in a month, tendons have terrible blood supply which is why they are white. Hes lied about his injury.Comment

If the Achilles is torn, just slightly, the Achilles would have to be torn completely via surgery in order to repair it. Such a repair would keep Gamboa out of action for at least a year. For Gamboa to suggest the possibility of returning to training camp in a month, would indicate to me that no rupture occured......In other words, Gamboa could be exaggerating his injuryLast edited by Lefty0616; 01-01-2020, 10:30 PM.Comment
