You have to spend money to make money. Dazn is in the red and has been since it launched a year ago. Hearn is ******** the 7m that mikey vs Vargas will bring in Mexican American subscriptions....a demographic that traditionally has not required much promotional resources to be spent. Unlike dlh and golden boy with Canelo, Hearn has absolutely no one that pushes subscriptions for dazn hence why he has embraced the YouTube fights. He saw how many people filled a stadium for the spence fight and the ppv buys and he (erroneously) believes that was because of the Mexican American fighter rather than the black American fighter....a demographic Hearn has not aknowleged directly even though it’s the reason he wants Tank, the Charlos, Wilder, Spence, Broner, etc so much

Few fighters make out really well and many fall by the wayside. Only the very top established "stars" can pull off the deals like the one Mikey Garcia is now enjoying. 7 million for a Vargas fight is actually an overpay by today's standards. Good for Garcia for working out such a deal. Should be a great fight!
The union I mention could serve to advise the young, broke fighters on how to sign long-term deals with promoters too if that's what they're looking for.

Just keep them safe from predatory contracts.

It would be a positive force for good in boxing. Centered on helping the boxers above everybody else.

A union would be a great idea but it's tricky. Obviously many fighters are not from the U.S.A. Would a worldwide union be feasible? And who would be the architect? There is so much corruption especially from the sanctioning bodies. Too bad that there wasn't a universal commission. Like a U.N for boxing. I can dream can't I?

It could start with just boxing in America at first. To keep it simple.

And the wealthier boxers might have to subsidize it at the beginning. Hopefully as fighters benefit and succeed from the advice given they would give back to keep it going and make it strong and have it grow global chapters.

It's just a dream. But I think the fighting men who put their life on the line so that others can make money deserve something good like this.

Boxers certainly deserve better especialy the retired, broke ones. The sport has always had it's shady side. Sadly many managers, promoters, and sanctioning body officials are only in it for the money and not the health and well being of the fighters and the sport itself. There are some good people involved in the sport but more needs to be done. Enjoy tonight's fights!

Dude, they can get options on Mikey’s next 3 fights and it doesn’t matter as they will lose money on all of his fights- the math simply doesn’t work. How can DAZN stay in business paying B+ guys like Mikey, Jacobs and Kovalev this type of money? It’s great for the fighters but I don’t see how it can be sustained and what happens to boxing when DAZN folds? Nobody is getting a new DAZN subscription to watch Mikey and Vargas.

First off, Spence and Mikey was not a big PPV success, it was mediocre at best. I was one of the fools that paid for that mismatch thinking the Mikey could be competitive and wasn’t just there for a payday. DAZN must know that Chavez-Jacobs, Mikey-Vargas is not particularly good content. DAZN does have some good programming: NFL RedZone, Champions League soccer, MLB network and they have had a few good fights. They must know that Canelo and Joshua drive subscriptions and that Jacobs and Mikey do not and the way their purses are screwing up the market can’t be good for boxing. To be clear, I am only a boxing fan and watch all fights regardless of promotional ties but I worry about what DAZN is doing with these ridiculous purses to B+ at best fighters. HBO knows boxing and they dropped out IMMEDIATELY after DAZN came in. I wonder if ESPN or PBC think DAZN has real staying power.

Al Haymon will not pay him $7M after the Spence fight. Probably $5M if versus A side Pacman's $10M?! They both want to fight each other and it is right for 41 yr old Pac to fight someone his own size or better yet retire for good.
