Bob was very successful marketing manny along side of Floyd. As long as people believed he was able to beat Floyd, that helped his marketability.

I think the powers that be always saw this fight going the way it did and that is why everything went down the way it did.
The torn shoulder excuse would be given 100% push

There’d be too much money involved to not do it

I’m sure it would have only taken a couple of decent wins post-whitewash to restart the hype machine

Possibly. The people behind the scenes are not idiots. They’ve both been very successful for a long time.

I think the realize that any time you fight a guy like Floyd a 2nd time you run the risk of the fight being a bad tv product because, like him or not, Floyd is incredibly smart in the ring and would have an answer for all the offensive moves of his opponent.

In many ways Floyd’s act works best once per opponent. Unless you have Castillo and maidana type fights where he came close to losing and people believe they guy has a real shot the next fight.

Yes they’ve been successful, but they are not perfect. They are only human after all. I don’t agree that because they’ve been successful that they couldn’t have done better

We have the wonderful benefit of hindsight for these hypothetical scenarios, which they didn’t have. I suppose it’s right to make the distinction between saying they should have done something, or that they could have done something. It’s apples to oranges when it comes to hindsight really

True trey aren’t perfect. They could always have done it better.

They didn’t have hindsight but I’m sure the used some analytical information to determine how to proceed.

I just don’t think things happened by accident. I think it was well thought out.

Slow, flat footed, Latin dudes, seemed to be on regular cherrypick rotation

It’s a shame Floyd ducked so bad. He even went as far as going to jail so he don’t have to fight Manny. PAC would’ve clocked him back then.

Fight still would’ve sold at least 3.5M

after floyd finished with madonna 2, the suits @ cbs had had enough with floyd cherrypicking slow, flat footed latin dudes and said make the manny fight or else...he might not be shot, but at least he isn't slow, flat footed and latin....

Nahh.. U have to think Manny and Floyd were bigger household names after the long wait.

By the time they fought EVERYONE knew who they were and atleast heard about the matchup.
