This is nothing new. It's global. Unfortunately boxing has become tribal nowadays on all sides and among all diverse ethnic groups of boxing fans; Especially since it's demise and loss of popularity in the world.

It wasn't like this when boxing was mainstream and had crossover appeal among casual fans more than 20 years ago. Back then people were more interested in the event itself rather than the race, ethnicity, color and nationality of the fighter or its promoters.
