Atlanta has been called black Hollywood for years. Nothing racist about what he said. Atlanta is the destination spot for black entertainers, actors, athletes ect. Have you seen the studio Tyler Perry built there?

Atlanta is a great city and I’m glad they got some boxing cards as well. Hopefully Davis fights at the Mercedes Benz stadium where the falcons play.
I know that the city of overtown in Miami was considered “the Harlem down south” Ali,Liston and a bunch of black musicians and celebs lived down here in the 50’s and 60’s

Is Ellerbe racist? Was that a racist remark? I’m a big mayweather fan as well as both Gamboa and Davis however, I cannot get past this “black Hollywood” remark.
If a white person were to make that statement, would it not be a racist remark? Or would it be acceptable?
Just wanna know what people think.

I don't believe his remarks were racist because blacks are a minority in this majority white country. They are a smaller distinct demographic. It's no different than saying Asian Hollywood or Latino Hollywood. I don't find those kinds of remarks offensive because they are both ********** with a much smaller demographic than their majority White counterparts in Hollywood.

In business you don't want to limit or marginalize your patrons by being non inclusive. You want to crossover and expand your demographic as great as possible. Preferably, with the much larger and broader demographic.

However, I believe that most people of goodwill understood what Ellerbe was attempting to convey. He didn't appear to have any malice, hatred or resentment in what he said at all. It was more of a social blunder or gaffe at best.
