If Crawford needs to fight Porter, Charlo needs to fight Derevyanchenko

crawford absolutely has to fight porter if thats the guy that is offered....and hed get a ton of respect for that win....no belt for porter doesnt matter...hes a tough out and that W would get a ton of respect in the boxing world...porter might be a 3 L guy but hes better than that too

see heres the thing....the pbc welters are fighting each other....you dont have a porter, thurman, or danny out there trying to get a meaningful fight, within his own circle, that he cant get.....you dont have spence complaining he cant get a certain fight....

over at DAZN andrade has all the big dog MWs right there...yet he cant land a single one of them.....why should charlo be interested in fighting a guy that the stars on andrades own network aint? for a few extra million when its likely if charlo wins DAZN will have options(hearn needs to prove it a true one off otherwise its just a farce hes selling to media to believe charlo is ducking)

the real question is why cant hearn land a big dog MW for andrade right at DAZN? hearn has AJ...AJ is a star...AJ fight just did well....he has leverage....and he still cant turn that into anything for andrade...

the pbc guys, with stacked divisions, dont have to make offers to guys outside.....they fight each other....

Charlo does have control. He has an offer to unify sitting in front of him. He also could have left to DAZN when they signed the other three middleweight champions.

The second Andrade’s offer to Charlo went out, half the board said Charlo shouldn’t take it. One poster even said Charlo shouldn’t consider fighting Andrade unless it was for $15 million dollars.

Charlo won an eliminator and made himself a number one contender to win a title. He eventually got the title. Crawford won a title. It’s basically the same exact thing.

To my knowledge he was locked into a deal.

I posted why I think this offer is a waste of time. Haymon doesn't care about the WBO so Hearn knows this will be rejected. All this offer does is provide PR shade and deflect from the real issue-Andrade is on dazn and dazn will not match him with Canelo or GGG.

But I get it-Charlo should take advantage of a chance to put the best name on his resume.

I don't recall there being a large number of posters stating he shouldn't fight unless the offer is that. Maybe I just missed it.

No it isn't. Charlo had no idea Canelo/Dazn/GBP/WBC would pull this crap. Crawford knew the politics when he re signed. He already wasn't getting top tier opponents. Re-signing just made it certain that would go on for the length of the contract.

I don’t see the point in Terence Crawford fighting Shawn Porter. Porter lost to Brook, Spence and Thurman. He also should have lost to Ugas. The fight doesn’t interest me at all and I want to see Crawford fight another champion so we can get to an undisputed welterweight champion already.

That being said, the same people pushing Crawford to fight Porter are telling Charlo not to unify with Andrade. They also complain that GGG and Canelo are ducking Charlo.

Well, why doesn’t Charlo fight Derevyanchenko then? Derevyanchenko is basically the same thing as Porter, he’s a guy who gave tough fights to the champions in his division. He doesn’t have a belt to offer but so what? Charlo doesn’t have many options since he stayed loyal to his promoter instead of crossing the street. In fact, Derevyanchenko is a PBC fighter so it would be easy to make.

Oh that’s right, crawford-porter benefits PBC more than it benefits Top Rank so all the PBC fan boys insist that fight has to happen. Charlo-Derevyanchenko wouldn’t benefit PBC at all, so it shouldn’t happen.

Derevyanchenko gets a win back in 2020, Charlo fights Eubank Jr early 2020, and with a win, Jermall Charlo likely fights twice more for 2020.

Unless Jermall Charlo gets the Canelo fight, making the Derevyanchenko fight should be no problem.

I think you make some fair points but again Charlo was the mando for the WBC. Charlo was willing to fight Canelo. The issue was if they didn't make a deal it would've gone to a purse bid. I think we know GBP could lose that bid to the Haymon affiliated promoter.
If that happens then Canelo would either vacate or fight with PBC controlling things and they were never going to let that happen. SO they worked around it.

Crawford's problem is the other WW champs are all on PBC and are going to unify among themselves before they give Crawford a unification fight. What does Crawford do in the meantime; try to get one of the top PBC guys to fight him or keep fighting JWW moving up?
