Do you find Crawford's stance on the Porter fight strange?

Kenny Porter is calling for this fight. He's been saying it since the Spence fight ended. Arum has now come on board and he's willing to make the fight. Shawn is going to do whatever his father tells him. The choice is Crawford's. He should be calling his friend asking him to do him a solid. Porter still has better options than Crawford. It's more strange that Porter the challenger in this situation isnt the one calling for the fight. Crawford will make his money regardless. Who can porter fight next in the next 4 months that will bring anything to the table. He already beat Danny and Ugas and Kieth and Spence are hurt. Why is his dad speaking for him asking for the fight and not himself. As mean a dude as Crawford is does anyone really think he would back down if Porter called him on national TV.Comment

I know right. He gets credit for fighting no top guys. I can understand fighting a bunch of top guys and some not so good guys here and there. But he hasnt fought anyone worth a poop!Comment

If Crawford wants the fight Porter will fight him. Of course he's not going to make his friend look bad by saying he doesn't want to fight me. Porter will fight anybody and that's a fact. He's not going to pressure Crawford into a fight when he still has other options. Crawford needs this fight more than he does.Porter has had the same stance on this fight: they both have been saying that they are "friends" and that they would have to decide themselves if they want to fight each other. Like any boxing fan, I ain't with the "buddy buddy" thing but they both have been consistent regarding one another.Comment

Kenny Porter not calling the shots. Didnt Shawn make that clear to you. I know you read the article.Kenny Porter is calling for this fight. He's been saying it since the Spence fight ended. Brook won nine rounds against Porter.
Ugas won eight rounds and got robbed.
Porter also lost to Thurman and Spence.
The Spence fight was only close because Spence is an alcoholic who will never reach his full potential.
Porter won the WBC title because it was gifted to him when Thurman was injured. He beat Danny Garcia who’s so overrated it makes my head hurt. Garcia should have a loss to Mauricio Herrera
Porter won the IBF from Devon Alexander who was a drug addict.
He’s a gate keeper with a good promoter.

Its obvious that kp wouldn't be saying what he has been saying if Shawn was not already on the same page. Unless you can find an example of that ever happening. I understood The article to imply that in a metaphorical way its all on the fighters aka its ultimately on them to decide their price but of course that means Porters on board to begin with or therd be no negotiating between the fightersComment

If he hits all of his allotted dates, over this assumed 5 year extension, he's supposed to be guaranteed $45m.I said this to a few people immediately after those words came out of Crawford's mouth. You're asked about fighting a top 5 welterweight, with PBC, that would further prove your prowess and status as an elite welter, and you basically say "I'm not looking to make that fight right now". With how limited your options are (which is practically zero) with PBC fighters, why would he be so picky? He's acting as if he's in the driver seat. The entire boxing world he clearly is not.
He has to ask himself if he's okay with spiraling into irrelevancy (*as it pertains to 147 if he doesn't fight any top 5 welters) or if he's okay with Top Rank bringing up fighters from 140 for the remainder of his career. At some point in time, he has to take accountability and get back SOME control of his career. He re-signed with Top Rank until 2021 knowing PBC would NOT be easy/almost impossible to come by. So we'll see what he decides next.
I would really hate to see such a talent spiral into irrelevancy like that.
Outlays are whatever, but that's at least $20m he would've put into the bank by the time he was 38 years old (paralleling when Floyd walked away).
He doesn't care who he fights, and only starts to care if his actions draw his manhood into questionComment

Hes far from a gatekeeper due to a few losses. You can argue only two losses if you dont count Spence.
Hes had off nights and good nights. What fighter dont. But a gatekeeper is another was of calling a A class WW that brings the heat win or lose a bum. When his resume is better than Crawfords and fought better fighters than Crawford has fought, And No fighter crawford has faced is on Porters level.Comment
