Just How Good Was Prime Manny Pacquiao?

one of the best 25 or so fighters to ever put on a set of boxing gloves.
the guy started at 100 lbs and dominated a solid era at WW. it's basically never been done. guys have gone up that much in weight, but not that many weight classes with world titles. it's usually big middleweights who make it to HW who have that kind of jump in weight. and those guys can be counted on one hand for the most part. fitzsimmons, langford, greb, jones, toney, these are some of the very best fighters ever.Comment

Big fan of both. I was surprised Ricky took it to Tszyu like he did. Ricky really did his best to sell that fight vs Manny. 140lbs was his weight etc. My Dad is a lifelong boxing fan. The day after Tyson beat Spinks he told me a guy named “Evander Holyfield” would beat Tyson one day. Just before the bell rang on Manny v Hatton, my Dad tempered everyone’s expectations with “Don’t be surprised if poor Ricky gets cut to ribbons boys”. I had not heard that expression in ages, but after the fight I then knew exactly what that term looked like.Comment

Prime for Prime Pac vs Floyd would have been spectacular.
I think floyd is the better boxer, but Pac can change a fight with his body punching. Prime for prime I would pick Floyd to win but you never know what could happen. Pac could stun him with a body punch and then swarm and hurt him and it would be a different story.
The fight almost happened in 2010. After Pac beat Cotto and the negotiations began, and then ended when Pacquiao refused full drug testing.
First pac wanted 50 50, floyd agreed.
then floyd wanted blood testing, pac said 24 days, then 14 days, then 7 days.
Floyd wanted full blood testing and that's where it ended.Comment

He is indeed.
One of the greatest fighters to ever put on gloves.
Mayweather was spectacular, but so was Manny.
Manny completely ANNIHILATED his opponents. He went into every fight with intention to do so, he never planned on winning on points.
That’s why he sold so many damn seats and tickets.
Story of a poor tiny Filipino kid, humble AF, just devastating every opponent in his path.
Favorite moment?
Hatton
Margarito
Cotto
Remarkable victories over each, with many other victories to recall.Comment
