Gary Russell Jr. is set to end what will become his shortest layoff in five years. Multiple sources have informed BoxingScene.com that Russell will make a mandatory defense of his WBC featherweight title against Tugstsogt Nyambayar on February 8. Showtime will televise the Russell-Nyambayar bout as the main event of a "Showtime Championship Boxing" broadcast expected to take place at PPL Center in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

Damn ! Gary must have really pissed the WBC off for them to appoint so many tough fighters as mandatory for this belt. Everyone knows Tugstsogt Nyambayar is a straight up BEAST. Boxing is an amazing business where you can sell a horrible product and still have people pay for it! How is it even possible to make any kind of money off of those fights is beyond me! Surely these are fronts for laundering money...
