Good move by Fury.. But he should have did this two fights ago.. U don't change trainer's two months before you face Wilder!! This is how English fighters come to America and wake up back home in England! Lol.

I don't know what to say about this.
I don't recall ever seeing this man train someone in a high profile fight before, but who knows?
As much as a lot of people dislike Ben, do you disagree with the advice he gave in the Wilder fight?
I think he did good, could have been better? Sure...but by no means it was bad/mediocreComment

Ben Davison is a CrossFit trainer. Tyson Fury was the master and Davison was the student. That is not a good set-up in Boxing. He helped him lose 200 lbs doe! Tyson now has an old school trainer in his corner. Listening to the Gypsy King talk, it is clear how high a regard he holds Manny Steward, basically to Tyson, Manny was the greatest of all-time. Guessing the logic is that Sugar Hill is the closest he can get to that now.Comment

Fury is so scared of the rematch he doesnt know what to do with himself. He thought running away and signing the ESPN deal would keep him away from Wilder. But the ESPN execs know they cant feed him any more bum fighters, as there is no interest from the public for it.
ESPN boss:
"Fury, unfortunately we can't sign off on you fighting another D-tier Euro fighter, we only sold 3000 tickets your last fight. We need you to step up and sign a deal against a top fighter"
Fury: "I don't feel physically or mentally ready for Wilder though."
Boss: "What about B-tier fighters like Hunter, Povetkin or Miller?"
Fury: "No, they're too dangerous for me. What about Chisora?"
Boss: "No, there is little interest from the public in that fight. We have to go for Wilder".
Fury: "O-oh n-no please. He hits too hard he gave me concussion. I promised my family I would do everything to not fight him again. Please"Comment

Let's face it, Fury doesn't need a trainer, he knows more about boxing than the vast majority of them out there.
Fury needs to stay motivated, and he gets stale quickly with the same faces.
This new team will re-motivate him for the Wilder rematch. BumSquad's in big trouble.Comment

Not to say he didn’t respect Davison, but not as a trainer. I think more on a friend level. I respect my friends, but i don’t think i could really get into a fighter & trainer mode with them and fully respect that aspect of it.
I think he went with Ben because he was good to have around at the time for his comeback and getting into shape. He never headhunted Davison specifically or for any boxing reasons, he was just there.
Now he’s singled out a proper trainer for the first time since his comeback.
It’s good for Fury and bad news for Wilder.
Fury already beat him, now he’s going to be motivated with a real experienced team and isn’t 50% fit this time.Last edited by deathofaclown; 12-16-2019, 07:02 AM.Comment

Then how bad would it make Wilder look? - it would mean he got schooled by a 50% Fury that went on to lose to Wallin..
The truth is Fury beat Wallin clearly with one eye. Sure fights have been stopped with those cuts but it wasn’t and he won, so it was right to not stop the fight because he could still continue.
If you use the theory he should’ve been stopped with the cut because other fights get stopped early with cuts, then you have to say every knockdown in a fight should make the fight get waved off because other fights get waved off too early.Comment
