Comments Thread For: Terence Crawford: 154 is Not in My Immediate Future

Terence Crawford will be fighting for just the third time as a welterweight when he takes on Egidijus Kavaliauskas (21-0-1, 17 KOs) on Saturday on ESPN at the Madison Square Garden in New York. Crawford (35-0, 26 KOs), the WBO welterweight champion, still plans on campaigning at 147 even though he's having a hard time landing career-defining fights so far within the division.

There was a report he was going to 160lbs. I guess it was fake news.

I knew he was trolling with the media when he mentioned 160, he even had a sarcastic smirk about it.

"Terence Crawford will be fighting for just the third time as a welterweight "

Uh...did he face Khan at 140 and I missed it...?

            Horn - 147
            Benavidez - 147
            Khan - ???
            Kavaliauskas - 147

Or is Crawford's 147 resume so poor that BoxingScene completely forgot one of his fights?

154 will be his max. Bob was hoping Adames would win that fight so he could have an in-house 154 lb. title fight for Crawford.

154 may be too much. Crawford needs to wait out the other 147 fighters. He is a good money fight for someone. I think once the dam breaks and someone on the PBC side agrees to fight him, the other big fights will come as well. Top Rank and the PBC crew are showing they can work these things out when it is a benefit to them all. Getting Crawford in the mix is truly a benefit to all 147 fighters.
