that was the first one I ever watched with real interest and I was immediately hooked. I feel ya, man. That's still one of the best fights ever in terms of drama and the good guy/underdog coming out on top in a fight nobody thought he could win. -
I was at that fightOriginally posted by edwardscizzandsThe first live event i've seen is Tyson Vs. Williams, and that got me into boxing. But, i've already seen a lot of clips on Tyson before that. And now, i'm just hooked on it.

your dad wasn't alone, man. I was at a party where the host had bet a lot of money on Holyfield. He never said how much, but he was flipping out at the end. Everyone in the house was going nuts. I watched the rematch and was like man, **** this sport. But I started watching again for Holyfield-Lewis's unification series 2 years later.Originally posted by El Temiblefunny thing was i was about 9 , an i remember my dad sayin before it , i dont know if u should watch this , he was genuinely worried bout holyfields health

My Dad bought me a copy of "the thrilla in manilla" when I was probably 12 or 13, and I've been an Ali and boxing fan ever since. I still can watch the "thrilla" or "rumble" everytime it airs on ESPN classic; those fights are timeless.

and you stuck with it? 98 was quite a weak year if I recall correctly because Tyson was no longer competing, although you had De La Hoya peaking, etc. I think I watched more wrestling in 98 because Stone Cold was on top of the game. I was also 12 in 98, so that's cool.Originally posted by BrooklynBomberIn 1998, at the tender age of 12.Comment

It was a local live show, not some big fight on TV, my dad took me there, because it was a saturday night and he did not want to leave home alone. I was nver really interested in boxing before that night, but when I saw 2 local guys go at it, it opened a whole new world to me. Also note this, it was in Eastern Europe, and it was quite hard for me to get to watch any big american fights, ****ers did not even show Tszyu fights, and my relatives had to send me them from Australia. I still dont know the name of these 2 guys that were fighting.Originally posted by DiegoFuegoand you stuck with it? 98 was quite a weak year if I recall correctly because Tyson was no longer competing, although you had De La Hoya peaking, etc. I think I watched more wrestling in 98 because Stone Cold was on top of the game.
