I was born in '76 so by the late '80's the Tyson lore had drawn in all the young kids. I don't remember which was the first one I saw. His opponenets didn't matter to the kids anyway because we were made to think "Nobody could beat Mike Tyson" like the name of the Fresh Prince song.
The first fighter I really like was De La Hoya. Do any of you guys remember seeing him on Saturday afternoon network television (Wide World of Sports??)?? DLH was marketed heavily also in the early '90's with stories in SI and fights on free TV.

This will date me; but the 1st fight I ever saw was the 1st Ali/Liston fight----I was 10 or 11 years old and everyone at my house hated Ali (called Cassius Clay then of course) and said how bad Liston was going to beat him---yeah, Right! He was my hero from that fight on.

I've always been a fan of boxing, however I started to get hardcore around 2001/2002... I don't remember one particular fight that did it.

My grandfather boxed in the US Army and has always been a follower, and my great uncle is referee Waldemar Schmidt, so I've always had boxing present in my life. But I was always a basketball follower and despite knowing the names of boxers and who was good and all that, the first fight I was anticipating, bought, and saw was Tito and Oscar when I was 12. Since then I've become a huge follower of the sport, I at least make sure to watch any major fight under any circumstances possible.

I was 8 years old and the first fight I ever saw was THE THRILLA IN MANILA replay. Nice way to start I thought.

when i was younger i used to always sleep at my aunties house and my uncle was a big bruno fan and i remember watching bruno/tyson 2 with him and i was bout 5 so i never really understood it.
but then as i got older naseem hamed came onto the scene and my uncle started following him and i genuinly fell in love with hes showboating. and then my auntie gave birth ot her 1st child so i began sleeping less and less and boxing kinda faded outta my life.
as i got older i watched the od fight here and there on sky and began watching ricky hatton and then i decided to explore other divisions and now id call myself a hardcore fan
