We can all read between the lines...Joshua is being protected and he is being dictated to. I think AJ is a great fighter with a suspect chin which is why he is being protected. This is a great approach if all you care for is cash flow but not so good for his legacy. He will always be remembered for who he avoided as well as who he defeated.

It’s guaranteed to do over 1.5m buys on UK PPV, it would very likely be the the most lucrative gate in the history of boxing, DAZN will sell a bundle of subscriptions...thats all cash in his pocket. Better still would be back in Saudi where they’d probably get a $100m hosting fee before they sold a hot dog.

This is a business and you are talking about probably the richest fight in history, it would never be in NY and I don’t even think Vegas could touch it this time because DAZN has changed the game.
Biggest PPV in History? Richest fighter in History? Apparently you've neve heard of Floyd Mayweather.

To be perfectly honest, America doesn't need AJ.

A lot of posters here reading “next fight” as all future fights. Relax. AJ will fight in the US again, and he likely fights in Saudi again and probably even China as well over the next few years. He’s had two on the road, and earned a fight on home ground.

He doesn’t have any one close to Mayweather at HW who is American, that could elevate him more than he is right now.
That may be true to a point. Lennox Lewis and Fury would beg to differ. Look at great fighters like Carl Froch and David Haye and Joe Calzaghe. Imagine what they might have been had they had a few more fights in the US. Pacquaio's fame exploded in the US. Roy Jones and Mayweather, who fought exclusively in the US are more international than Joshua. The reach of the American media is global as opposed to sky sports. But to your point, maybe with DAZN that may change. good discussion though.

So every American champ is protected?

Not about where he fights it’s about who he is fighting. Fighting bums on the road won’t do a thing for him.

If it just comes down to money, the first fight grossed about 25m for Joshua and 7m for Ruiz, and the second a reported 75m for Joshua and 13m for Ruiz, so for sure, Joshua doesn't need the US for financial purposes.

ESPN estimated Wilder and Ortiz got about 20m and 7m respectively in the rematch (so Ortiz got about the same as he would have done vs Joshua if he took it). Wilder also got about 20m vs Breazeale.

It remains Wilder v Joshua would be huge financially, and no idea which country would make it the biggest financially, but on recent showing, might be Saudi again.

He likely fights Pulev next. Pulev is bigger name than Wilder`s last opponent.
