He was overmatched. Spence is MORE responsible for the fight being dull than Mikey.

Go back and watch it. Spence backs up and jabs everytime Mikey comes forward. Spence utilized being TWO WEIGHT CLASSES large to win. It was not a boxing clinic - it was a much bigger man using his physical advantages over a smaller man. And Spence NEVER HURT A LIGHTWEIGHT.

Boxing fans show their true color in fights like this. Blame the Underdog who moved up two weight classes for...not making fight better?

Being tough enough to get pounded for 12rds is hardly an accomplishment. Garcia’s goal in that fight was to not get knocked out - not to win. Garcia turned out to be a glorified punching bag because he stole a HUGE check and was tough enough and moved enough not to get KO’d.

The “boring” factor rests on Garcia. Garcia took NO CHANCES which he knew could have led to a ‘mistake’ that Spence would’ve/could’ve countered or patiently exploited for the KO. Garcia didn’t allow Spence to make it interesting. Any truly “tough” boxer can hang around for 12rds if he doesn’t come to fight.

Actually he used his jab and physical advantages to WIN the fight. Garcia expected Spence to charge in recklessly in an effort to steamroll him as the bigger man. Errol decided to prove a point instead by out-boxing the boxer and thus beating him at his own game. Garcia himself said that he tried everything but had no answers. Yes, the fight could have been more exciting but every fight can't be Gatti-Ward or Ali-Frazier.
