Nah, he just ate too much.
Could it be that Ruiz didn't train because he knew he got lucky the first time?

Ruiz didn't train probably for the same reason I was so confident in him.
Because he was so clearly the superior fighter the first time around, and joshua looked mentally compromised coming into the fight, on top of all his weight loss.
He got overconfident. He thought he was superior to joshua.
The reality was that joshua wasn't mentally compromised he was dedicating himself night and day into regaining his belts.Comment

Ruiz came a one game plan, which is AJ going into a brawl with him.
Unfortunately AJ didnt come with such game plan, hence he was lost in there.
Fcck that I didnt train crap, its a classic excuse.Comment

He wasn't that superior, he lost 2-3 rounds and got dropped.Ruiz didn't train probably for the same reason I was so confident in him.
Because he was so clearly the superior boxer the first time around, and joshua looked mentally weak coming into the fight.
he got overconfident.
The reality was that joshua wasn't mentally troubled he was dedicating himself night and day into regaining his belts.Comment

lol... there is no possible way joshua won the first two rounds when ruiz so clearly outlanded him.
I made a thread where I broke it down.
Joshua did almost nothing but jab, and landed 1 right hand. Ruiz was countering him, landing jabs and power punches, Even landed a double right hook and landed an overhand right that hurt joshua in the first 20 seconds of the second round.
There is no concievable way joshua won the first 2 rounds. That's not up for debate, it's clear as day.Comment

agreed.
why bother working hard to win when your reward is wilder or fury for less money? as opposed to another 3 month binge and joshua for big bucks.
cant wait to see which clown hearn brings in for joshua after the ruiz trilogy. might have to borrow frank warrens scrapbook of tomato cans. unlike fury he is never going to make the ones that matter though, at least not while it matters.Comment

This was a fixed fight. They paid Ruiz off to not train, take it easy and get even more money for the 3rd fight.
The fix was in, I don't understand how people don't see it.Comment

he went back to doing what he'd been doing all his life. eating too much and skipping out on the gym.
shoudl ahve seen this coming, but i'm still dissappointed in him and i still want to give joshua credit for a hell of a gameplan. shedding literally 10 lbs of muscle, and boxing his doors off and looking like muhammad ali out there.
was ruiz, who wasn't known for training hard going to go all out after he got rich and famous? of course not. but that's hindsight. we know who he is now better than ever. the guy put on 15 lbs and looked like absolute f#cking crap in the biggest fight of his career.
make no mistake, ruiz never has to fight again. he probably made 20 million bucks off of two fights in purses, and he will easily collect 10-12 million bucks after taxes and expenses that he can put in the bank. if he's not an idiot with his money he can live comfortably for the rest of his life. he started early
if ruiz was in joshua's shape and never got obese he'd be a cruiserweight. about 210-220 in the ring, and if he wanted to he could dry out for the weigh in and be 200 lbs. the guy's stomach was literally dwarfing his shoulders. he hardly trained for the biggest fight of his life. i have zero respect left for him.
styles make fights and joshua wouldn't have been willing to give up his height this time around, but ruiz would have at least had a shot if he was 250 lbs and could actually throw his combinations. he looked... well fat. he looked fat.Comment
