Could it be that Ruiz didn't train because he knew he got lucky the first time?

Could it be that Ruiz didn't train because he knew he got lucky the first time?

I'm thinking that this might be the case, because he already knew that AJ was losing weight and preparing to be a lot quicker and moving around alot and wouldn't let Ruiz close the distance, yet Ruiz just got fatter.

Sounds like he didn't have the confidence in pulling it off again and rather than train and go down fighting, he just said F it.

Sad that he did not believe in himself and at least trained and try to get something going against AJ.

I wouldn't be able to look myself in the mirror knowing that I went out like a chump.

I don't think it was confidence it was lack of heart to stop eating and do the hard yards.
Takes discipline to be a champion boxer.

No, he didn't care because he was promised a 3rd fight. After joshy's fight against the bum pulev he's gonna fight him again, Hearn is stretching those cherry picks out because that way there's excuses to avoid the real two HW's out there

he is just not a real champ. I am happy for him he made money and beat AJ once, but I think the second fight won`t help him to get next paydays.

Maybe Wilder fights him, because they are both with Haymon.

              ''I should have trained better....''

MFer, you should have trained better before the Parker fight. Don't come to an immediate rematch talking about shapes.

I don't think it's that he got lucky so much as knowing he wouldn't be afforded the same opportunities to fight on the inside in the rematch.

He wouldn't be the first to not train or make sure to be seen out having a good time and enjoying life to have that built in excuse in case you lose.

Just speculation obviously but it feels like something close to that I think.

He chased a guy for 12 rounds without tiring. Don't be fooled into the "I didn't train" excuse. It's a classic excuse boxers use when they can't admit they weren't as good as the other guy.

I just saw an interview in Spanish where his dad says he's glad Andy lost. He said he did too much partying, too many distractions with politicians picking him up, I disaster of a camp, he never focused, he wouldn't listen to Manny, he lost respect for Manny, he'd run on his ow then show Manny of video to proof he ran, etc. After not listening to his father, he's glad he lost so that he'd learn a lesson. His dad wanted him at 255. He told him to be a gentleman towards Anthony because Anthony was a gentlemen towards them and told him to thank Anthony
