Ruiz keeps talking about a third fight like it's a sure thing. Unless he already has a contract I'd say he may have ****ed himself. He's not exactly the most marketable guy in sports. And he's a fairly high risk low reward fight for anyone. How on Earth do you not train for a heavyweight championship fight? Thousands of fighters would kill for his skills. You can jump on Ruiz for being out of shape, but truth is even the version of him who won the title would struggle with this version of AJ (and im not a biased AJ fan).

The best version of Ruiz would simply be too slow of foot and too short to get to the stick and move AJ we saw yesterday- especially in that massive ring.

We can get angry all we want about his weight, but even if he came in at 250 his natural limitations wouldve kept him as an underdog to the taller, faster, stick and move fighter.

Disagree. Ruiz didn’t throw any of the fast countering combinations he did on the first fight. Maybe he would struggle to get into range, but if the Ruiz of June was in range against last night’s Joshua, he would have been a hell of a lot more dangerous. He still had Joshua terrified up close and landed some shots, and he didn’t let his hands like in fight 1.

He probably thought he’d go in there and KO AJ again since it was so easy for him the first time. He didn’t realize that boxers have off nights and he was actually having the rematch with “the” heavyweight champ prior to his fluke win.
