Completely agree with Manny on this. Ruiz had his golden chance last night and blew it. A third fight with AJ can happen, but he has to work his way up. I'd actually like to see Ruiz v Whyte/Povetkin/Hunter etc.

Yeah not a bad fight, but I think Kownacki has already been pencilled down for Wilder after the Fury fight. Wilder already booked himself out prior to the Joshua/Ruiz first fight.

Nothing changes unless he really wants to unify all the belts, but looking at Wilder resume and history I don’t think he cares about fighting for the undisputed. Especially if he had to fight someone who isn’t under the PBC banner.

... Ruiz doesn't have to earn shit... because he doesn't give a shit anyway...

... and after these two showings vs AJ, I'm sure that nobody would like to fight him...

... the guy is so good in his own terms...

Kownacki Ruiz would be a great fight I think. Who the hell wants to see Kownacki get his head taken off by Wilder? Tough kid and seems like a good guy with a crowd pleasing style but he has no defense or head movement and will just come forward into devastation.

The difference is that there was a rematch clause after the first fight, therefore Ruiz was contractually obligated to give Joshua the rematch. There's no clause for a 3rd fight. The rematch was sold based off of the way that the first fight ended. People wanted to see if it was just a fluke,or if Ruiz was actually better than Joshua. It turns out that he's not,and that he just managed to land a great punch that josh never recovered from. It would be hard as hell to sell a 3rd fight when Ruiz just lost 10-2 or 11-1, especially when the whole selling point is "please pay me millions of dollars again. I know I didn't train for the rematch and showed up morbidly obese, but I promise that I'll actually train this time of you guys fill up my bank account again."

For a boxing fan, it's unusual how much you need explaining to you.

AJ 'deserved' a rematch because he was the champion taking a voluntary.

Ruiz doesn't deserve one because it was a contracted to fight once more and he didn't bother to turn up in the right condition.

In fact he doesn't deserve much right now. He's going to have to prove he can get motivated again and earn his next decent fight.

I wouldn't be shocked if he bowed out and wouldn't blame him at all. He got $17 million in 6 months. Why get hit in the head for the kind of money he's going to be offered now?
