Aj boxed well and credit to him for winning, but he is still just one punch away from a loss. Ruiz just followed him around he should have stood in the middle of the ring and waited for Aj and counter him again. My only knock on Aj is that before the fights he said he was looking for the knockout, not for any second in any minute of any round he never went for the knockout.Last edited by Patsfan bri; 12-07-2019, 05:26 PM.

Good gameplan from AJ.
Being disappointed in Ruiz shouldn't be anything new for those who liked him before his upset victory...he always lacked 100% dedication. I'm still happy he had his moment though and people know who he is now - still plenty of fights for him to make once he's back home.
I thought MAYBE the fight not being in Vegas would help Ruiz stay focused and not having people coming out of the woodwork to distract him, btu guess that didn't really matter. AJ grinded the whole time

Ruiz just said out of his own mouth, he didn’t prepare like he should have. He didn’t listen to his team during training and trained himself. I didn’t get that part. They didn’t have the right preparation. Seems like it went to his head and he wasn’t hungry enough. So give Joshua credit and stop making excuses for Ruiz. Joshua fought the fight he needed to, to keep his career moving forward. It’s boxing. No one that risks their life inside the ring needs to fight how fans want them to or how the other fighter wants them to.

I picked Joshua to win, but was voicing my concerns over whether he had overcooked it in training 'Joshua's trademark herculean strength, seemed to be non evident' but nevertheless, he executed his box/move game plan'.
I don't think Joshua has exorcised any demons, as this victory was not emphatic or dominating 'He won, while basically trying to score points/survive'.
