Wasn’t he saying he wanted to be in better shape for the rematch?

It’s going to come into play mentally. Joshua is going to go in there underestimating Ruiz again because of his weight, and surprised once again by the speed

You haters forget that Ruiz whooped aj the first time. And Ruiz hand speed is considerably faster than AJs.
Unless aj suddenly becomes vitali pumping a good snap jab constantly and clinching like his life depends on it, the handspeed will be obvious.

If aj runs the whole fight, I will be disappointed because only just a little more than a year ago, all you aj fans were yelling how aj is a knock out artist.... Blah blah wilder is fake blah blah let's see aj knock out the 6 foot, 280 lbs champion.

I can't remember a fighter keeping his clothes on for the weigh in.
Maybe it don't mean nothing but still. WTF?

            My take:

The extra weight probably does help him take a punch -- and make it that much harder for Joshua to keep him off him -- and it shouldn't slow those fast hands. But the longer it goes, the harder it will be to drag that much mass around the ring.

            It's an intriguing encounter.

If there was doubts over whether AJ should firefight or play an elusive long-game behind the jab, surely this swings it. It *must* favour Joshua if he goes for the latter.

Do I need to reel off the fighters he's knocked out?

If AJ wins by fighting at distance then hand speed doesn't come into it. Will you be disappointed? Probably. But who cares if you're disappointed?

With all the talk of a trilogy already, if you've been paid to lose and are the guaranteed a big payday for the 3rd match, you wouldn't have to worry about your weight anyway would you.

Tbh last fight he was already out of shape. That’s what they said themselves. They said all the way through that they’d come in a bit lighter which would be the right thing to do.

255 is a good fight weight for Ruiz even 260.

280+ is a damn joke and I believe the rumored lack of training probably is true.

Not a good look for Ruiz, but we’ll see.
