This mentally weak thing about AJ can only really come from kids with literally no life experience.

If you like and if you are really petty sort of pointless person you can pour scorn on all his achievements. Pick holes in his opponents. Point to good timing. Say they even just gave him that gold medal (not true btw).

But...….this guy walked into a gym one day and he was at the European championships the next day virtually. He blinked then he was at the worlds. He blinked again and he was in a Olympic final. Do you think he was confident in any of those situations? He can't have been - he couldn't really box when he was at those Europeans, ffs. He must have known he might come up hopelessly short at any time but he kept a level head and kept on fighting up to the standard of his competition and getting better. His humble schtick is probably true.

Again he shut his eyes again and he was walking out in front of 90,000 people at Wembley. He's found his feet every time until Ruiz.

Whyte nearly got him out. Povetkin smashed him around a bit. Never mind Klitschko. He turned those around very well.

He's put himself out there every time. I like AJ I don't mind if he wins or loses but mentally weak? Come on now.

The way AJ sees it is probably like a normal person who has been under intense pressure (from himself!) that now it's his environment. And he goes into those environments, I don't doubt, with self doubt, every time. But that's his normal. Mentally weak would be cancelling fights or disappearing off the map. AJ fronted up everyone the moment he got smashed by what British casual fans were calling a fat lad.

If he loses to Ruiz again it's because Ruiz is better at boxing. Point blank.

Surprised no one has mentioned this but I think the difference in performances before and after Klitschko is more to do with the level of opposition.

Before he fought Klitschko he hadn’t really fought anyone elite, he had some good step ups on the rise but was over powering everyone which probably contributed to him being fast tracked.

Put it this way, if he had fought Takam, Parker, Povetkin and Ruiz before the Klitschko fight I doubt he would’ve looked any better.
