Maybe you're right, though, maybe it wasn't a quit, I guess only AJ knows for sure
I would agree with you that AJ quit. He went into the fight with Ruiz unprepared mentally and when he got hurt he quit. According to Teddy Atlas AJ's being in New York was part of the reason and AJ would not have quit if the fight had been in the UK in front of many thousands of his fans. Teddy is picking Joshua to win the rematch because to Joshua this is all about redemption. I see merit is what Atlas says, he is very articulate in describing the psychology of fighters and he sees AH as a fighter and not a quitter. Thought I'd share this. One last comment, while I admire Atlas as a man and a very bright man at that, his record on predicting fight outcomes is not so good.

But Eddie will do anything to pull that UK “way too loyal,” fan base back in for at least one more fight.

From there he can feed those AJ belts to another Matchroom champion.

Hoping Ruiz takes up right we’re he left off and KO’s him despite guerrilla war-fair style fix waiting on him. The referee will be the star of the show.
This is the same guy that took Wladamir’s power, recovered, and stopped him.

This is the same guy that dropped Andy early.

I like Ruiz and want him to win, but I’m picking Joshua if I am a betting man. He was stopped last fight, but I don’t think he has a glass chin. He got hit in the right spot and never recovered.

I wonder if Wlad is really kicking himself for not pouncing on Joshua when he had him hurt.

        Bscene logic.
The difference is Ruiz recovered quickly and immediately to put AJ on his back. Then went on to do it again three more times.

It's not the fact he got knocked down and, AJ was the first to do it btw, because any heavyweight can get knocked down doesn't matter if you're Ali or Evander. It's about how you respond. And out of the two Ruiz responded the best to the other guys best punches. That's the bottom line in this fight because AJ takes too long to recover from being hurt and doesn't have the skill set and stamina to box off the back foot when being pressured by a guy who has faster hands in close range. But we will see

You don't turn your back on the ref and walk to your own corner after a count, you just don't do that. Also, what was the ref supposed to do, wait for him to get his gumshield back in, THEN see if he's ready to box on? That's not how it works. Same would apply for loose tape, or whatever else. Priority #1: Can you continue. Plus, I've never seen a ref look at a guy with his arms on the ropes and be like, 'OK yep you seem ready to continue'. No. You raise your hands, you stand in front of the ref and you listen to what he says. I appreciate your opinion anyway, it's interesting how we can look at the same thing and see something different. I suspect a quit, and you're more willing to give the HW champion of the world the benefit of the doubt, that maybe he doesn't know how a boxing match works

              You read my mind.

He's probably gonna fight scared like he did in the Parker fight. Don't think he can hold that much with Ruiz because Ruiz will just pound his body in the clinch.

Let's hope the ref is worth a damn and let's them fight.

I'm a little surprised that Ruiz's team didn't object to Pabon because of that performance.
Wlad Povetkin was an awful watch. I mean, if AJ is smart he does lots of smothering in this fight. Hes more aggressive than Wlad through, probably the Ruiz camp are counting on that.

Yup. Look for jab-n-grab to be the big new strategy.

Depends if you consider running a change.
