Was Joshua overrated or did Hearn screw up?

Hearn just called the Ruiz-Joshua rematch a 50-50 fight.

In the first fight, Joshua was a 15-1 favorite.

So the question is, was Joshua insanely overrated or did Hearn screw up by accidentally matching him against someone who was actually really, really good?

I’m going with Joshua was overrated. What do you think?

Joshua is good but imo he has a few pretty big weaknesses.

I think because of his size it created some sort of invincibility factor. Dare I say hes like the ronda rousey of boxing lately?

His biggest vulnerability now is his own mentality. He ate into his own hype and because of it got laid out. Look at his fighting style pre Wlad and post Wlad. The hunger isnt there. The drive isnt there.

Now hes fighting off his back foot attempting to do something he shouldnt and when it comes to his defense and chin they have always been suspect.

    Take a look at

    AJ vs Parker
    AJ vs Povetkin
    AJ vs Ruiz

    Its consistent that he:

    doesn't have a gas tank
    Cant defend against overhand rights
    Cannot properly judge distance
And cant effectively fight off the back foot

But hes still trying because someone as big as AJ only needs to make it to the bell to win fights. It's no different than Canelo fighting in Vegas.

Also. Just from the interviews I've seen of joshua I dont think he loves boxing. I also dont think hes a killer and no I'm not trying to personally attack him. I'm just calling it as I see it. Those two can make or break a fighter. I want to see AJ dig deep and show what hes really made of.

i think he's overrated to the point how they're making out how good he is, and like the poster above said; his head and heart aren't really into boxing as it should be, i think he will be mentally beat before and if he should ever get in the ring with Wilder, also his defence is not good enough to avoid the right hand the whole fight

If he had known how well Ruiz was going to take Joshua's best shots I'm sure he would not have picked him. What other HW would have survived the 3rd?

Too late to fix it but I think Hearn screwed up.

it was a combination of... Joshua was a little over-rated, and he took Ruiz lightly...

Joshua and Parker were clearly not ready to take on all comers when they first won a title... that is why you develop a fighter

and AJ did not have his head in the right place for Ruiz... they took him lightly, and they paid the price... they showed little interest and no excitement before/during that event

if Ruiz wins the rematch, everyone will (probably, correctly) say that AJ was over-rated... but if AJ wins, everyone will (probably, correctly) say that they took Ruiz lightly...

in truth, it is a little of both... but AJ did not look like he was mentally prepared for 12 HARD rounds on the night

boxing is 80% mental... if AJ wins, and I think he will... that will mean he likely showed up with a lot more fortitude/resilience this time around

last time around, AJ spent a lot of time during the buildup apologizing for/justifying his opponent... this time around he is spending that time training

Ruiz was underrated. Everybody thought Ruiz was massive underdog for no reason.

One of the most overrated fighters in recent history. The real fans were always able to see his glaring flaws though. It was only a matter of time before something like this happened.
