  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: Joshua Wants This Bad, His Back is Against The Wall!

Eddie Hearn, promoter of Anthony Joshua, has personally seen a re-lit fire in the mental frame of the British star. Back in June, Joshua seemed mentally exhausted when he dropped four times and stopped in the seventh round by Andy Ruiz at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

... "re-lit fire in the mental frame"... OK, OK... mental frame!?!... this is a scientific mind blowing, tbh...

The only way we could witness aj vs wilder or aj vs fury or even aj vs some of the incoming strong prospects (Hrgovic, Dubois, Hunter and even Usyk) is if aj loses this.

If he gets the belts back, he won't risk them vs good competitors.

It's a very interesting fight, but it's not the heavyweight fight of the century. Did Eddie forget Lewis-Tyson was huge back in 2002, albeit they were somewhat past their prime, especially Tyson, but still were the two best then.

Very simple. If AJ wins, it will all be like before, ie him facing (supposedly) not very dangerous guys in order to keep his belts.

If he loses, he'll need to prove he's still good and will seek high level competitors.

And he'll try to capitalize on what remains of his legend....

I would argue that from the current top 4/5 in the division AJ has taken on the trickiest challengers to date. When Miller popped dirty most other holders would have taken a tick over bout but he stepped in there with Ruiz who we knew was dangerous. That same dangerous Ruiz is the guy AJ is getting straight back in there with.

Whatever people think of his ability or him as a person he is courageous. His record shows that. i'd have more faith in him or Ruiz as a champion taking on tough challenges than I would Wilder or Fury.

Lets face it after the first fight all of Joshua's faults were there to see. He was beaten by a good fighter but not a great one.Joshua talks about a punch from god etc when really it was a counter punch from Ruiz .A shot from which Joshua never seemed to recover. It would surprise me if Joshua were to win on anything other than a knockout by six but I don't even expect that.I expect Ruiz to be cool and calcalated and again have too much for AJ.

I would expect Wilder to take out Ruiz before the half way mark and for Tyson to win almost every round. This shows how well the Hearns have done for themselves and AJ whilse avioding the real dangerman of the divsion and creating a smoke screen around that event.

Joshua has a big following and will always be a good draw but another loss here and even if Hearn was to do the dirty and secure him a shot at a vancant title the truth will be he is damaged goods who as likeable as he is was beaten by a little short fat 20/1 against fighter.
