Credit to Ruiz for getting the win, but the only people that gave him a chance in the first fight were his team. I know the "real boxing fans" (aka fanboys with the benefit of hindsight) are trying to blow Ruiz up into Mr. Wonderful, but Hearn put him there to get steamrolled, to kick off Joshua's American campaign. It's not being called one of the biggest upsets in history for nothing.
Ruiz is dangerous in the sense that in the list of fighters for AJ to face once Miller popped he actually could fight and posed more of a threat to AJ. Stepping in there short notice with someone who can fight is dangerous whether it was expected for him to win.
The "real boxing fans" as you put it have all come out the woodwork acting like AJ was useless all along and will get steamrolled in the rematch when I expect him to do what he should have done in June this Saturday. If he does win, they'll be right back to saying they thought that was gonna be the outcome all along. That's boxing for you.

That same dangerous Ruiz is the guy AJ is getting straight back in there with.
Whatever people think of his ability or him as a person he is courageous. His record shows that. i'd have more faith in him or Ruiz as a champion taking on tough challenges than I would Wilder or Fury.
The same goes for Wilder of course.
We'll see.

Yeah nobody said anything of the sort, until after Joshua lost. As you said, Joshua was in a showcase fight that he was expected to win. Ruiz got the same "it's boxing anything can happen" comments that every no hoper gets.
People saying Joshua was useless all along are just people who've seen a massively overhyped guy lose to a guy that he wasn't supposed to. Tyson certainly got it. That's why you don't lose to showcase opponents. In either case, I have Joshua tabbed to win the rematch, where he will fight Ruiz the way he fought Joseph Parker.
