    Very true.

I think the only contemporary HW boxer we can use as the yardstick for Wilder's power is Mariusz "The Viking" Wach.

First, it would be interesting to see whether Wilder can manage to lose rounds even to Wach.

Second, Wach has never been down to the best of my knowledge. He has three stoppage losses but one was on cuts, and the other two were stopped because he was taking too much punishment, but he never went down or appeared buzzed.

Would be a nice defense after Fury, assuming Wilder gets through that one.

Good post! I had forgotten about Wach to be honest, but, yes, I'd say he's a HW with some real punch resistance!

There is a legit argument rather he is or not. You can't deny that! (Unless u hate the guy)

Can't remember another heavyweight with his body type.... Dude looks like NBA player, explosive, almost no boxing skill and puts every opponent down.

We will have more perspective on his power when we see his past opponents fight other guys (Ortiz) and when he fight other guys in the division.

Until then its a legit "argument" so everyone should calm down and let things play out.

        Fans, fanboys, and haters!

I dont agree that he is the hardest puncher ever, one of them sure. But people dont realize that its his speed and accuracy on that right hand mostly, hence the punches you dont see hurt the most. He combines speed timing accuracy and snap all of wich lead to great knockouts. Guys like foreman shavers had more raw power imo, just look at when they hit the bags compared to wilder. also when guys like shavers or Foreman hit guys with almost every punch you could see an effect , wilder hits guts with many punches that dont do much except for that perfect timed and accurate one.

Everybody seems to acknowledge that outside if the top 5 heavyweights the competition is real weak these days. No doubt Wilder punches hard, but heavyweights of the past were fighting better competition. Knocking out Joe Frazier trumps Ortiz everyday. It's hard to judge Wilder when he's fighting mostly chumps.

Time has a funny way of doing things. I watched Tyson when he was a teenager coming all they way up and I can tell you outside the top 5 in any era isn’t as dreamy as you believe them to be. The competition is just the same.

He dropped Fury but Fury has been dropped before.
Ortiz is an old man with no stamina.
Stiverne went 12 rounds with him and wasn’t really good in the rematch.
Based on that competition you can’t have an argument about his punching. The quality of opposition hasn’t been really good so get off the pipe old Bob.
Let’s see how he does against other fighters who can hit first before giving this guy credit for what needs to be proved further.

Yes, Wilder is a hard puncher. The difference? Sonny Liston was a murderous puncher, PLUS he had a jab that was practically impossible to stop. Wilder? All he has is a punch. Any talented boxer embarrasses him unless they get caught. That's a recipe for disaster and a roadmap to a rude awakening sooner than later. Wilder has pathetic footwork and non-existent boxing skills STILL. He's never caught on, and he never will catch on. Fighters who cannot box do NOT end well. If not for his willpower, he'd have been finished by now. IMO Fury outboxes him to an easier decision win than the first fight... which most observers had Fury winning anyway. It will be a great fight, just like the first one.
