I think AJ made a mistake losing weight. He should have just fought smarter in the 2nd fight and used his reach and power to keep Ruiz away. That was his best chance. With less weight he won't be able to keep Ruiz off him
Ruiz just has a rock solid chin. The straight right hand he took was perfectly through his jaw - it just bounced off him.
The likes of Brezeale, Martin, Klitschko all crumbled when they were hit with that shot clean.
Even when he went down, you could see he wasn't badly dazed. He got up and carried on fighting.

I think the rematch is a toss up. I wouldn't be surprised with either result AJ or Ruiz winning. I just would like to see Wilder vs Ruiz more than Wilder vs AJ now. That KO defeat AJ suffered kinda ruined the hype surrounding the fight. But then again if AJ wins in spectacular fashion it could change my mind.

True that. I can't see AJ winning, only if it's a fixed fight.

I've been saying Ruiz by KO or TKO, and small chance of it going to a decision either way. AJ isn't stopping Ruiz. But as I'm thinking more about it, there is just no way under the sun Ruiz wins a decision. If AJ stays on his feet to final bell, but gets out boxed, judges will still bag a win for him. And we'll all be screaming robbery. Too much money and power behind AJ.

            Ruiz underdog vs Joshua

I am Ruiz fan from back in the day.I started watching Ruiz bout a 2 years before he fought Parker. I think it's going to be a closer fight. Remember Joshua was doing appearances onmorning talk shows, walking the floor at the NYSE and doing a media appearance at the statue of liberty. If he trains hard and straightens out his punches. He might be able to box his way to a decision. Then again where you going to find sparring partners in the heavyweight division that can fight like Ruiz short like Ruiz with speed and size of Ruiz. Ruiz breaks his heart by the 5th and Joshua doesn't come out for the 10th round. He stays on his stool face beaten body attack from Ruiz destroys his body and any confidence he had .

If I was an odds maker I can see how several details in the fight might make Joshua a slight favourite:
1- He was not interested in fighting a replacement in the first place - so didn't prepare right.
2- He ended the fight on his feet - it was not a brutal KO
3- His athletic and physical advantages
I think almost everyone on here can predict what odds the books will offer for big fights. They are always around what we expect. But that’s not the same as picking who is actually going to win, or how, we have a lot more trouble with that. I figured AJ would be around -200 and it’s exactly what he was, prolly for all the reasons u mentioned. The odds shift depending on the money coming in also. Part of it is did AJ have a bad night and Ruiz a good one? It’s hard to imagine Ruiz fighting better, while it’s easier to imagine AJ might. But I think most people see it as being a close fight. It just means we can imagine both fighters winning in various ways. Both could get the KO. Both could win on points. Tyson being favoured vs Evander in the rematch was perplexing to me though. Evander was all wrong for him.

Homeboy has to prove it wasn't a fluke and he knows this.

He got decked hard by that left hook. They can both hurt each other, but one recovers faster.

Spot on with that one,,, and now that you mention it, Tyson holyfield is a way better comparison than all I've been hearing for the past months, in terms of expectations,,,

Yes Ruiz does have a great chin but my point is on another day maybe that shot (delivered slightly differently) would have knocked him down. You can see any fighter get hit with a hard shot and continue. Pretty sure glass jaw Amir Khan took some big shots from Maidana before he started to go wobbly later on. Just depends.

Martin and Klischko both have poor chins. As for Breazeale - he said after the fight that AJ's right hand is strong but not that powerful. He said AJ's left was very hard however. Almost every decent fighter AJ has stopped has taken a lot of shots first - Breazeale included.
