Comments Thread For: Rodriguez Explains Why He Rejected 'Heavy' Luis Nery

Emmanuel Rodriguez was prepared to teach Luis Nery a lesson in the ring. It was instead served up at the negotiating table. The pair of former bantamweight titlists were due to square off last Saturday in support to Deontay Wilder's heavyweight title fight rematch with Luis Ortiz at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their Fox Sports Pay Per View opener fell through, however, after Mexico's Nery (30-0, 24KOs) missed weight by a full pound, refusing to shed the extra poundage in the allotted two-hour time frame following Friday's official weigh-in.

There's no excuse for this cowardly move by team Rodriguez. Figueroa fought a guy that came in 4 pounds heavy on the same card because hes a professional and understands that the show must go on. I ordered the dazn app specifically for this fight and now I cant even cancel because their customer service keeps beating around the bush.

Ironic coming from the guy who supports someone who's repeatedly missed weight...

Yeah, I can't imagine many people outside of Nery's diehard supporters who would have sympathy for him.

Dude can't make the weight limit anymore. Time to stop wasting everyone's time and move up.

So you paid for DAZN to watch a FOX PBC PPV? Wait what?

No wonder you guys hate DAZN... And to cancel you just do it in the app itself like you would for Netflix. If you're trying to get your money back then good luck.... You think Fox would give people money back for that PPV because the undercard was crap? No.

Nice bias for the drug cheat weight belly Luis Nery though. Chump.

I always find it a bit weird when a guy tests positive for PED's or comes in over weight and posters blame the guy who is clean or made weight for the problems with the fight not happening.

Come on guys, set aside your allegiances in these situations.

Figueroa $200K Rodriguez $100K and Nery $300K. Nery should have given another $100K to Rodriguez
to make it even $200K each.
