Why are "boxing fans" so concerned about ticket sales, live gates and purses?

The actually wins and losses seem to not matter any more all posters on here care about is how much money these guys make and how many Twitter and Instagram followers they have..wtf is going on?

I thought you proved who was the best in the damn ring...not by how much your damn check was or how many people came to the dame fight....I see why YouTube posters are coming to the sport because "boxing fans" are freaking idiots now...They literally fight over which man has the most damn money.."MEN" have become worse the woman...

Only losers talk about another man’s pockets and ****** PPV numbers. That’s what kids and casual fans do.

Im so tired of seeing dumbass threads about PpV numbers and purses.

I believe for many of them it is about "my fighter sold more tickets than your fighter".

        cmon guy

honestly...in a perfect world it would be of no concern to us....but its part of the sport..economics are a part of every sport...

these things you mentioned...sales, live gate, ppv numbers...they influence things...they influence matchups....they make fights happen and not happen

take for instance the guys that love golovkin....they used to hate the everloving crap out of anyone who made a business decision......when cotto fought canelo....when canelo fought khan....

then they watched golovkin do the same exact thing with brook...citing a career high payday and UK exposure....they let him duck ward citing that he had a matchup with canelo coming and "anyone would be crazy to risk that and pass that up"

in a perfect world this stuff doesnt exist....stop trying to live there...we dont live there....this stuff matters...economics matters in every sport...it drives it....if theres enough money to be made or someone is willing to make proper concessions almost anything can get done....

reality is that these guys swore for the longest time wilder was a nobody making garbage money.....in the last two years theyve seen that drastically change and they cant bear it....they go so far as to say AJ is the only reason even though he lost and wilder just made as much money in a night as he did in most of his career

Like when kids fight over whose dad is stronger?

What do you think about banning mother***ers who talk about those stuff?

I dont ever see NBA fans talking about ratings or Kobe Bryants bank account so why are Boxing fans so obsessed over fighters’ purse?

It’s a dumb discussion topic... if i was a mod, anybody who talks about purses and ppv number would get lifetime banned.

Because those kinds of things speak to the 'health' of the sport of Boxing.

You could make an argument that this is more business than sport. In which case, the focus on the economics makes perfect sense.

If you treat this as a sport then Wilder v Fury never happens. Fury hadn't qualified.

Like it or not, the best get proven in the ring, but they don't even get in the ring in the first place unless the money's right. And for the money to be right, you need PPV, ticket sales...
