Every time I read about Canelo wanting to fight a past prime 40 Y.O Floyd Mayweather it lets me know that he would never have fought Floyd if he was still that high risk low reward killa on the come up. You wanna fight Floyd but not Andrade because he's "boring" & not a "challenge...." So many double standards in boxing it's sickening.
Floyd is the exception. He's the old Money. Everyone wants that fight.

Floyd is about 42 and just right for Canelo.

If Canelo agreed to come down to 160 or lower, around 154, with a clause that he can’t balloon up past 165 the night of the fight, Floyd would consider taking the fight because the money would be difficult for him to past up. Just like Leonard, he would manipulate the fight to his advantage giving himself the best chance to win even at 43, he would want the ring to be a certain size, he would want to choose the gloves, the judges, the venue, the ref, LOL.

With that said, most of what made Floyd great defensively has probably deteriorated already the past few years. And he would be 43 by the time he fought Canelo. His next birthday is in February. Too much of a risk of being embarrassed, hurt, dropped, or knocked out. I keep envisioning when Leonard fought a strong and young Terry Norris. I couldn’t watch. Canelo would be Terry Norris, same results.

Demetrius clearly needs to force Canelo into a corner. The risk for Demetrius is the possibility of a fringe group propagating a false drug narrative seeded by the WBC. Just like Dillian Whyte, Andrade might also be sidelined by Mauricio Sulaiman for years but still, that may be the only chance Demetrius has.

Dude, you are fighting at 175. Floyd is a Welterweight. You had your chance.
