It's just another example of how apt that quotes about having to be perfect for twelve rounds vs. being perfect for one second is. It was probably just a small lapse in judgement on Ortiz's part that normally wouldn't cost him much, if anything at all. Against Wilder it cost him everything.

That GGG one is more of lateral shot though and almost in temple range. Getting your head rocked that way is a lot worse than straight on which makes that Wilder punch all the more impressive.

If anything, Ortiz was hit closer to the temple. Watch the video again and you'll see Ortiz turned his head just before the shot landed.
