That Was A 1 Punch Forehead KO. Are There Any Others In History?

this was a forehead shot. Has anyone in boxing history got 1 punch forehead shotted? Essentially Ortiz's defense was sound. He was basically in Tyson's peakaboo defense that guard protects his chin and one side of the temple. They leave the forehead open to take punishment.

Forehead is the hardest part of the skull. Ear, temple and chin shots are aplenty. Forehead shots are rare.

    GGG has one

    Any others?

That GGG one is more of lateral shot though and almost in temple range. Getting your head rocked that way is a lot worse than straight on which makes that Wilder punch all the more impressive.

watch the clip. Rubio's temple is completely protected by the glove. GGG's punch hits forehead at an angle and moves his head away from the glove but the contact is all forehead.

GG punched the side, which is different than striking the thick, domed surface of the forehead. If Wilder did beam him on the forehead (I couldn't tell last night) then that's fking insane. Hope he didn't bend his metal hand again.

To me almost looks like the chopping overhand lead hook kinda splits through the guard and glances the temple. Or at least would transfer some concussive power through that vulnerable part of your skull. Either way it's more of the 'shots you don't see' type of KO. I've been hit on that part of the side of my head with a bare fist by a normal non fighting trained person and it hurt like hell for a week.

Isn't that the same shot that KO'd personal trainer Steve Rolls?

                you're delusional.

having the glove there automatically would make the punch whiff.

can you hit someone's chin if their glove is there?

think about it in terms of physics

                  Except it's not.
The forehead is the front, which is why it's called the FOREhead, from the root word "fore", meaning "front".

If you look up the anatomy of the skull, that part is not considered the front/forehead. It's literally categorized as a different section.

At any rate, these guys are both monster punchers. No denying that.
