This post originated from a PBF interview in which I saw Floyd make statements like: he is the best boxer there has ever been, hands down and he's all about his legacy. Also, he could beat anyone at 130, 135, 142, 147 and 154. Now I dont want to be too hard on him cause basically every boxer runs their mouth about being the best but when someone says they are the best thats ever been, they better back it up and so far he hasn't!
Lets take an objective look at his most competitive opponents:
Jose Luis Castillo 1 and 2, I thought Castillo won the first fight and definitely exposed mayweather's tendency to stop being offensive when he starts getting hit but more importantly showed there were fighters out there that Floyd couldnt just dominate.
Demarcus Corley, Corley gave Mayweather an unexpectedly tough fight, hurting Mayweather a couple times and showing mayweather is susceptible to looping punches and hooks.
Zab Judah, look Mayweather beat Zab but not the way everyone thought he would. To me this fight really showcased Floyd's inability to carry his punch to Welter, granted he punches so cleanly and accurately that he will get you out of there with an accumulation.
So, instead of sittin on his ass waitin for the money (De la Hoya, Mosley) he should be fighting guys like Margarito, Hatton, Cotto, Baldomir, Cintron. The longer he waits the more problems he will have with the best.
I'd love to see him step up to 154 and fight De la hoya, vernon forrest, Winky Wright(wouldn't that be interesting). So, who is everyone picking for Mayweather's November date? Baldomir? Id like to see him in there against someone a little more proven but that would still be an interesting fight.

The only problem with his post is that Hatton and Cotto don't want to fight Floyd right now. Also, his claim that Cintron should fight Mayweather is questionable.

Allow me to start by saying that I don't consider Floyd an all-time great but he has the opportunity to be. Sure he hasn't fought the best opponents over the last 3 years but I can excuse that since he had so many tough fights early in his career when a lot of fighters are shielded. Yes Castillo definitely gave him problems but that is not really a knock on Floyd. Castillo is an excellent fighter and his style definitely can be effective against Mayweather's style. But if you look a little deeper, you should realize that Floyd gave Castillo an immediate rematch even though it was an incredibly tough fight... so I doubt he is afraid of anybody. Also, Corley is a tough fighter and showed nothing except that Floyd has a pretty good chin. Corley also gave problems to Zab Judah and Miguel Cotto. Zab definitely gave Floyd some problems early on, but what happened eventually... Floyd imposed his dominance. Zab has some good physical tools but can't sustain it for a whole fight... this simply confirmed that. And no matter what you think about DLH and Mosley's age etc, fighting them is like a right of passage. DLH will never be credited for beating Julio Cesar Chavez because Chavez was still in his prime, but you can't really be the man until you beat the man. I will credit Floyd for winning those fights just like I credit DLH for beating JCC and Pernell Whitaker. Then Floyd should take on the other guys you mention because after all Floyd and them are all still young, and DLH and Mosley are only getting older. If he beats Cotto; Hatton; Margarito; Collazo etc. Then I might like to see him fight at 154. But in all honesty that is really not a good weight for Floyd. If he was able to beat Winky at 154, and he beats all of the aforementioned fighters I would consider talking about Floyd in the top 10 of all time. But he is a long way to go.
In Floyd Mayweather jr's mind he is the best that boxing has ever seen. I don't think so, but he's got talent and the potential to prove it. My opinion though is until Pretty Boy Floyd fights and beats a for real superstar welterweight he aint the man in welterweight and No way the man at Junior Middle! He wants to be that guy beat Mosley, and De La Hoya, unify the welterweight title and defend, defend, defend the title against all comers the like of Miguel Cotto, Collazo, Hatton etc... thats how you become great!
hahah@ collazo hatton..would did collazo become a top of the line fighter? spinks paul williams judah are all better then collazo

Problem with that is there ain't no superstar welterweight's out there.
there is that word again "superstar" any true boxing fan knows that Maragrito is a threat to Floyd and is why he turned down the 8 mil.....Mayweather himself isnt a "superstar"
