    How would Deontay Wilder do against the following?

    1. 1962 Sonny Liston
    2. 1973 George Foreman
    3. 1971 Joe Frazier
    4. 1964 Muhammad Ali
    5. 1986 Mike Tyson

    Does he beat them all? Who does he beat? Who had a chance of beating him?

    Ali wins every round. The other four knock Wilder out.

      The only one I would give him a chance to beat is Liston. Prime Tyson would send Wilder to the shadow realm.

          Liston reach was longer than Wilders so I think he touches Wilder’s chin first.

            Hmm... I think he loses to all these guys. Most likely takes heavy damage from a prime Mike Tyson, and if you think Fury made him look bad at times, Ali would make him look like Logan Paul.

              who knows how those fights would play out

              all of those guys knew how to defend a straight right hand

              but, so does everyone else... and Wilder has floored every opponent who shared the ring with him, and some were cagey/skilled/experienced top-level guys... he fights to his style well, and always seems to find a way to land betsy

              who knows... GOOD fights there...

              I would favor Ali against anyone... prime Tyson had excellent underrated defence... you picked a badass bunch of legends/killers there... and 15 rounds could well make a difference in how the fight unfolded

              with Wilder there is always the possibility that he could be 1 punch away from either... winning the fight in spectacular fashion, or landing a fight-changing punch... but I would favor Ali and I think that Tyson would get to him first unless Wilder caught him cold... but for the most part, especially with Foreman/Liston, it could come down to who landed betsy first... Foreman was TOUGH, and he was skilled... so was everyone else

              you made Wilder run the gauntlet when you picked that bunch man, it is hard to pick against any of those guys... but Wilder is VERY fast, he punches VERY hard, and he has learned to fight to his style in order to be effective

              the dude is Daniel Boone... if he hits you with betsy, then you are going down... and he can hit you from a looooong distance

              it would not surprise me if he won some of those fights... he would level Frazier like a sack of potatoes if he caught him coming in... Ali was a BIG heavyweight back then, Wilder is MUCH bigger

              interestingly, something I just thought... who would give Wilder a chance against Larry Holmes?

                not saying I am a huge Holmes fan... or a huge Wilder fan... or anyone else

                just... I can see Wilder possibly winning 1, or more, of those fights

                but, when I think about Holmes/Wilder unfolding... Holmes could disfigure that man

                * Holmes is underrated
                * #styles

                a even more modern thought... Wilder/Vitali would have been dope... even Lewis

                  1. Liston is an overall better boxer. Wilder has a chance if he stays outside and doesn't exchange, but probably Liston corners and KOs him. Liston might quit if he gets hit too much, but he probably just gets mad.

                  2. Like the slugfest with Ron Lyle! Foreman, with his iron jaw and better vocabulary of punches has a definite edge, but at least Wilder can hit him. Of all of them, this would be the fight to see.

                  3. To have a chance, Wilder has to hurt Joe early, which means getting a lucky right hand through Joe's bob & weave approach. Other than that, I don't see how Wilder keeps him at distance - he's not good at wrestling and doesn't throw enough punches to bother Joe. Frazier buries hooks in that long body till Wilder feels like he's getting cut in half. Hands come down, left hook to the jaw, over. Wilder doesn't have the tools to deal with Smokin' Joe.

                  4. Wilder can't put a glove on the '64 version of Ali. The Greatest is only really vulnerable to a good left hook at this point, and Wilder's sucks. Ali embarrasses him and KOs him in 5.

                  5. '86 Tyson runs him over, like he did with everyone else. Wilder doesn't like having the pace pushed, and Mike was a straight up berzerker in the 80s. Wilder's only chance is to run for 4 rounds and then try to box Tyson from the outside. But Tyson's a good counter-puncher too, so even then he probably gets KO'd after missing a wild haymaker and leaving himself open.
