He was quoted earlier as saying it was Arum's decision. Now this. He needs to learn to stay on message better because it looks like he is lying and the question triggered him badly.

Loma could really make headlines by being brutally honest and say rather than defend against Haney, he decided to vacate so he can sit idle and be 100% for the match against the Commey/Lopez winner, which is a huge money fight for him. His diehard fans wouldn't hold that against him in any way seeing as how they defended the emeritus move already. That level of honesty would be refreshing.

All of us on NSB get this because Haney, while untested, has attributes (speed, height, length, athletic, reach advantage) that could pose a problem even though Loma is more accomplished and ranked higher p4p.

He can’t really be undisputed like he wanted to be, because franchise isn’t recognised as one of the 4 major belts as it stands.

And then even if it becomes recognised as the number 1 WBC belt, then Haney’s belt just becomes like a secondary belt, like the WBA regular

This franchise crap wasn’t needed. It’s basically WBC’s way of staying affiliated with the best fighters without making them fight mandatory fights they don’t want. The made Loma mandatory for the vacant title when he wasn’t even in their rankings, so it’s no surprise they now made him franchise champ. They just wanted him to be their champ, now franchise champ.
